Lacey/Kiss Me - Bored Now. She did a pale imitation of a non-song song that's all quirk and bells and whistles anyway. Never listen to Judge #4, kids. That's a recipe for disaster.
Katie/Three Little Birds - How is this a younger song than last week? Thus is a VH1, lite FM staple. As Ellen noted, it's Muzak to drill teeth by. She sang it fine, I guess. The verse was a little too low. But who cares, no? I won't remember what she sang by the end of the night. Down with teenagers on this show, y'all. For real.
Afghan/Lean on Me - Oh, as usual, dear. Thesekids need some themes, stat. They cannot be trusted with free choice days. And thean she started out way too low and overcompensated once she got up into her head voice so that it got a little screechy in spots. It wasn't as bad as the judges said, but it wasn't good. I did feel badly for her, and since everyone knows I'm heartless, that probably goes double for the rest of America, so I'm guessing she's good.
Michelle/With Arms Wide Open - There's never a good reason to sing a Creed song. Trust that this is so. And this girl has such a thin, reedy voice, there's no way she could bring the kind of power necessary to plow through this cheese. The front was passable for a drunken bachelorette party. The back half of the song was tragic. And the final glory note was absolute booty. Close always counts for pretty girls on this show, though, so thanks shallowness.
Lily/A Change Gone Come - She wasn't nearly as good as Crystal. The judges, except Simon, overpraised. It was an OK version of a song that was done much better just last season by Adam.
Katelyn/The Scientist - Oooh. It's the only Coldplay song I love unreservedly. I agreed that the arrangement was a little annoying, but I felt she laid down one of the best vocals of the night. Same as she did last week. This girl might be a comer.
Paige/Walk Away - You're not Kelly and I don't like you and your colored contacts.
Siobahn/Think - You're not Aretha, but I like you. Go sit in the corner and consider what you've done.
I'm so over this season. Mamasox and. . . yeah, that's about it. I suppose Lily and Siobahn can tag along because at least they're not boring. Katelyn can come because at least she can sing. Everyone else is dismissed.
I'm oddly feeling less interested about the girls than the boys at this point, which is weird since the girls are pretty clearly overall more talented. The only ones I am really fond of are Mamasox and Katie the 17 year old (though I agree she has song choice problems and is all wrong for this show, I just *like* her.) I think Lilly White Hair is interesting but she feels incredibly artificial to me, and I hate what she does to songs. (I hated what Adam Lambert did to that song too. People, there are some songs that I do NOT want to hear "your version" of, no matter how gifted you are. That is one of the top 3.)
Siobhan is indeed, as Simon put is, a very strange person. That outfit alone could keep me wondering for days. If I have to pick one more for my top 5 it's Paige, I guess. But Paige and the rest of the girls just seem so DUMB. Paige is fun and giggly and dumb, and Katelyn is a good singer but female-objectification-pants and dumb, and Michelle is not that good and dumb, and Didi sang that song SO WHINY, and Lacey's song was cute but there's nothing really there, and Haeley is a FESTIVAL OF DUMB and PITCHY.
OH god why am I listening to Lilly murder this song again? Why? I need to get to Youtube for some Sam Cooke, stat!
festival of dumb = awesome band name
what's with all these people of color getting eliminated on AI in the first 2 weeks? I don't get it.
Nice, Survivor! I am loving this season a LOT.
I just got home so I'm only a few minutes in but oh holy god, Tyson's come to Jesus with Coach was exceptional.
