le nubian, I am not a particular fan of Big Mike and his Freddie Jackson, Quiet Storm R&B, but I do agree that he's one of the better singers in a subpar season. I think, if the judges' plan is to try to snag Aaron and Tim in the double boot next week, they'll be sorely disappointed. You'd think those two would be splitting the tween vote, but Aaron's pulling much more of the grandma vote a la John Stevens and he's the only real country contender left to vote for this year, so he's getting thar vote, too. That leaves the twink and swaybot field free and clear for Smiley. I think one of them may go home next week, but I'd be shocked if both went. Much more likely that it will be Andrew (finally) and maybe Tim if he pulls another performance like the Anita Baker massacre. I also doubt Judge #4 and the Dawg are capable of hatching a such a sophisticated plot. The height of R&B cool for Randy is that late 90s groove thang that is Big Mike's stock in trade. And Judge #4 gave us Jason Derulo. Why wouldn't she save Big Mike? She'd probably sign him right now if she could. As far as Simon and Ellen, well, they know good TV when they see it. DwtS is on that ass and they need moments like last night to keep AI in the #1 spot.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Reality fail last night. AI cut off and I forgot to dvr Top Chef.
So I take Big Mike is still around?
That Govin guy was really an arrogant jerk, wasn't he?
yes, he was. I wanted to like him, but no.
I read the behind the scenes article at AI - on the ew.com web site and apparently Kara was pleading for them to use the save to keep Mike. She was gesticulating and getting all hot and bothered over it.
So it seems she was pushing for them to keep him. Or, it all could be theater.
oh, and about "Shear Genius":
I am so upset and appalled by the finale results that I am not watching this show again. I feel like the judges spat on me.
I usually can take results of show and not like them and move on, but I stopped watching "Big Brother" and I'm going to stop watching this show too.
No redeeming value.
I have no doubt that Kara loves her some Big Mike. After all, he brought her to tears the first time he sang This Woman's Work, and last night he sang it even better than in the semi-final rounds. I just don't think he's ever going to be your next American Idol. I read a couple of other AI boards (Shocking, I know!) and opinion on him is decidedly split. There are those that like him, but a ton of folks just can't get over the cheese factor.
I wish I'd been there this week instead of for the Demi/Miley/Joe Jonas fiasco.
Today's report from Nigel:
I am positive #kingofkrump Will be happy to know that Comfort: #@comfortIVREAL is a #SYTYCD All-Star. She's a bucc hop hop dancer. Phabb!!
Comfort was really the best choice for hip hop girl. She is serious. I wish we could get Josh as well, but I don't think we'd get Twitch and Comfort and Joshua. Season 4 overload.

Since I didn't care at all, I mostly think it's hilarious that after a season of trying to do nice hair, the last two challenges let Brig do what every crazy-ass shit she could come up with, and get praised for it. So unfair.
It was ridiculous. She didn't do hair! She put stuff on top of hair! Ugh.
I hated this season. They need to get it together, with a consistent host and judges, and some decent challenges and contestants.
