Elizabeth David's chapter on potted meats is all things like chicken livers chopped fine with herbs and stored in a clay pot with a layer of fat on top. Country-style paté.
SPAM...I can't bring myself to call it meat. It's meat-product. And it comes in a can, not a pot.
In slightly related news, the Potted Meat Museum (which is COMPLETELY muddling the whole can/pot issue, and I am throwing my hands up at the WHOLE THING) is selling Kerry-for-President t-shirts for dogs. I do not know why.
I think today should be over now, even on this coast.
Who's with me?
raises hand
Yes, please. I would like to go home now. Has anyone seen my motivation to do work?
I eat potted meat and like it. Now I'm gonna have to go read the rest of Steve's adventures with "food"
Then, to my understanding, smooshed SPAM would not be unlike potted meat.
Though I have little interest in eating either, so I won't verify that.
I don't think smooshed Spam would have the same texture as potted meat. Potted meat is oddly creamy or much like cat food. Spam is firmer than that.
Spam is firmer than that.
That's why I'm smooshing it. To make it mushy.
Oh, dear. This is grossing me out more than the horsefucking.
yay baby canned whole chicken!
I think that Spam would end up more crumbly than smooth, like potted meat.
I'm going to go eat sausage now and not think about this.
maybe if you smooshed and added sour cream or some other creamy/fatty substance.
