So I have today off and decided I would be a good person and go visit my folks. And I did, and I helped dad with email, and clipped the dog's nails, and cleaned the bathrooms, and prepped their dinner.
Well, the universe punished me: I got home to find dog vomit in a puddle upstairs (it even got into the furnace vent on the floor), and multiple piles of dog poop and a big puddle of pee on the floor downstairs, right next to the door into the backyard.

I can't tell if it's two culprits or just the big dog. Damn it. This is going to be a rough couple of weeks.
I've started chopping my own onions up and browning them to use in my home-made tomato-saucy things. I don't like raw onions, and don't like caramelized ones either, but doing the tomato sauce up this way really adds to the taste.
It was necessary to look up onion-cutting video demonstrations on YouTube in order to figure out how to do that fairly efficiently, since it's not the kind of thing that my Mom did or thought useful to teach.
I love the smell of onions and will happily cook them for other people, but if I ingest them I have to get a shot in the butt to stop the bad results. I have not tested this in a number of years and hope that perhaps the allergy has gone away as they sometimes do, but I have not had the courage to try. If they are super processed, like freeze dried and then baked in a casserole or something I manage, but for the most part they are not possible. A inconvenience for eating out, but restaurants that prepare fresh food don't have an issue. Chain restaurants mostly can't accommodate.
Poor you!
I was clever tonight. Home Despot was selling 5 tier shelves (plastic, for the basement) for $40, but their 4 tier ones for $20. So I got two 4 tiers, made one 5 tier and one 3 tier, all for the same cost (and it was the number of shelves I needed.) Things aren't the most efficiently put away on them, but I've gotten all the luggage as well as some other crap, off the floor, where I either had to worry about it getting wet or me tripping over it. So that's a win, I think.
My basement still needs so much help (a lot of things I need to donate/go through and toss), but oh well.
I love onions! But don't cook enough to buy many at a time.
I don't like them raw, but I generally love them cooked; however, I don't cook with onions enough to buy a bag at a time. I generally just buy 1 onion at a time, when I know I'm going to be cooking something requiring an onion.
Hey, when you grow up, sarameg, you could be an Ikea hacker.
I just saw someone suggest a tip of buying onions in bulk, then cooking them and freezing in portion sizes you'd use for cooking. Then just defrost and use as needed.
Oh, but that would involve tools and tears! eta: but of course I'm going to Get Ideas now....
