I fell down and got confused. Willow fixed me. She's gay.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

We really want to see it, but we'll be waiting until May.

Yeah, us too, I'm pretty sure. Tom makes the occasional exception for Dr. Who, but not much else.

Our wings are not tired

Buying it from the UK is sketchy??

I think she was referring to ahem'ing it, not the purchase from the UK and a region free DVD player.

Oh, ok--I was like "Wow, your idea of sketchy is very different than mine!"

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congratulations, Stephanie!

You are not wrong. Which is a shame, because I do want to visit Australia! But I know waaaaay too much about the Jillifont population there.

Honestly, I don't think you're any more likely to run across one as you are in (most of) the States, and here in Melbourne, the only dangerous one is a rebranded black widow. But we do have the rep, it's true.

My co-worker pointed out that a boxed DVD set of season 1 AND 2 is on sale next week -- in the UK.

Region-free DVD players are pretty much standard in Australia, and Amazon UK does free shipping to Australia. (First time round that was "free whipping to Australia", which, not since the mid-1800s.) We've used it for a ludicrous amount this last year.

My favorite exchange to date:

For me it's Stringer Bell trying to introduce Robert's Rules to drug dealers.

"Nigger, you ain't got the floor. the chair don't recognise yo' ass."
"...Well, I'ma worry about that when it happen. Until then, Mr. Charles, we're going to handle this shit like businessmen, sell the shit, make the profit and later for that gangsta bullshit. [Poot raises his hand.] Yeah."
"Do the chair recognise we gonna look like some punk-ass bitches out there?"
"Motherfucker, I will punk your ass for sayin such shit!"
"Yo, String, Poot did have the floor, man."
"Shut the fuck up, this nigga too ignorant to have the fuckin' floor!"

"Motherfucker, what is that?"
"Robert's Rules say we gotta have minutes for a meeting, right? These the minutes."
"Nigga, is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?"

All is well that ends in pizza.

Catching up.

Hi everyone!

On the recommendation of ... Daniel? someone on the board, I bought Dr. Bernstein's book. The diet advice is good, although I'm a little wary of his advocacy of fat rather than carbs. I'm attending an educational class next week, so I'm hoping to get more information for my particular case.

Probably me. I recommend it a lot. My takeaway about his fat advocacy is that he trying to break through the irrational fear of fat that's prevalent in American society. I find his advice useful as a general guideline, but it does make sense to try not to overdo the fat.

sumi, if you're asking me, it's "Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution". The first half seems to be a summary of his own tribulations dealing with diabetes (he's Type I) and how he came up with his solution and how well it's worked out for him and then stories from others who've tried it with success. Later on he gets to specific dietary recommendations, with recipes towards the back.

The first part left me headshaking at the amount of resistance the medical community had against self testing.

The fact that he had to go to medical school and become a doctor at age 45 in order to publish in medical journals amazes me.

The who with the what now? The whole thing where I'm supposed to spill blood every few hours and look at the number and sigh in frustration that it's still so high? That money-making racket where the meter itself is free but the strips cost an arm and a leg?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

billytea, that is one of my very favorite bits too.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yeah, I meant getting the episodes online through not-exactly-aboveboard means. Buying a region-free DVD player and DVDs from the UK is just a lot of effort, but not sketchy.

They obviously didn't see the lucre potential.

Here's a couple of pages from his book explaining the problems:

Thank you! I'm horribly lazy and terrible about taking care of myself, but I'm finding very useful things in there.
