Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
And it could have been Mike I. ! Argh.
That was a fun one. I've never been to Rao's, and now I want to go. There are so many places like that in New York, and you get the BEST homemade, and homey, Italian food. And generally wonderful, attentive service, like you're one of the family.
I'm a little surprised - I thought that Dale might go but I guess that they felt that Tre really didn't get the concept.
But I am very pleased that Antonia won.
Me, too! I love Antonia.
I was very pleased that the girls did so well overall. Come on, ladies! Keep bringing it.
All the dudes were totally rude about Antonia winning. I wanted to smack Blaise's assface.
Sorry Tre was the one they picked to go. It sounded like Dales dish was worse.
I think the editing monkeys held back a few comments about Tre's dish until judge's table. I don't remember the comments on the rice itself being that negative during the dinner.
And, yeah, I was hoping it was going to be Mike I. I would think fucking up pasta would be a far bigger crime in that setting than risotto, which requires a bit of finesse.
Is anyOne watching "live to dance"? I hadn't been but am accidentally watching now (is this the finale?) and so far pretty impressive. And makes me want SYTYCD back!
Eta: though this one group of boys is...weirdly semi "Indian" dressed or something and I'm side-eyeing their feathers and body paint.
meara,
I watch LTD. IMO, the show needs some retweaking and perhaps some better talent. This was one of the better shows in terms of talent, but it was the semifinals (finals are next week). The audition shows were incredibly uneven.
amy,
Bourdain in his blog says you can't get in there unless you know someone who has a table or you know the owner. They do not take reservations.

Oh yeah. It's funny how often the judges have said it, and how hard it is for certain chefs to believe it -- they like simple food that tastes really good. See also, Carla in her season.
I had ah mazing housemade pasta (just that easy thick flat long pasta I can't remember the name of right now) and meatballs at one of our fave neighborhood restaurants last week. Totally toothsome pasta and flavorful, beautifully textured meatballs (also huge!). It's their tuesday night special and is under $20. I was thinking if one of the Primi course guys had made something like that they would have totally pleased the judges.
If the pasta worked out I guess.
