I don't know it, but that last Crystal song really reminded me of Eva Cassidy.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I just looked it: it's called "Up to the Mountain," and is a Patty Griffin song about MLK Jr.
My boss is on a plane and Tim Gunn is in the seat in front of her! She says "compared to him the rest of the passengers look like homeless people." Ha!
Awesomeness! I would be so mortified to be on a plane with Tim Gunn in all my travel wrinkliness and smelling of airport lattes.
Ooh, last Crystal song (which I never heard before) gave me shivers. And I think she was about to cry at the end again.
She better damn well win. (Well, okay, traditionally number 2s often do better, right?)
For anyone who watched Antiques Roadshow this week, here's the follow-up story on the Native American baskets appraised at the end of the episode. A week after they filmed the show, one of the crew members on the show had stumbled across a photo from a 20-year-old research book that included a Washoe basketweaver posing with one of her pieces, one of the very same baskets they had appraised the previous week. So, instead of only being worth $25,000, it is now worth $75,000!
OMG, I want an entire album of Crystal/Joe Cocker duets. Please? And leave Lee home. The dude is just so much...nothing. He has no stage presence and is almost nearly always off-key.
I think Crystal just had an orgasm, I swear to god. She looked BLISSED to be singing with him. And bless his heart, he still sounds great, but he looks like five miles of really bad road.
What a weird night! The Simon stuff was sort of touching, aside from Paula's extreme awkwardness, and then the guests! Alice Cooper! Hall and Oates! THE BEE GEES, for god's sake! Very surreal.
Man, that is so wrong. What kind of crack are Americans smoking before they dial the phone?
I'm surprised at how surprised I am! And I like Lee, so I'm not completely disappointed. I do think Crystal is going to do just fine, though, a la ... a lot of folks who didn't win, like Jennifer Hudson and Daughtry and of course Glambert.
