The good thing about the bad auditions is that you can just turn your head or not look and leave the show on. You still have to listen to what the judges say and what they say back. But it's not like listening to bad signing.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Even the ones that you know what go far in the audition process can be great to watch in their first piece. I loved the New Orleans Bounce dancer from S6--he was terrific, but it didn't surprise me that he didn't make it past the first round in Vegas.
I hope that we see more of the dancers in the auditions this year. They spent too much time on the judges' reactions and voiceovers last year.
Since only 10 are going to the final, I bet we won't see more of the dancers this year.
So Top Chef DC is going to be Wednesdays at 9. Is that going to be up against SYTYCD?
I'm finally watching Top Chef Masters from last week, and Rick is whining AGAIN. he's pissed that Marcus "took" all of the chicken that he wanted. He even said "I wonder if he heard what I was going to do and picked chicken" He's such a dick.
Is this the first season of Idol where the winner doesn't have to sing some horrible original song? Ryan just said if Lee wins, he'll record "Beautiful Day," and it is indeed the U2 song. Surprised me.
Now I'm dying to see what Crystal chose.
I didn't recognize either of the songs, but they are far better than any of those crappy songs they used to write for the final contestants.
And, OMG, but Crystal's voice just gives me shivers and that last song made me want to cry.
I *am* crying. I also want "If you make a salad, I'll eat it" as my new tagline.
This was the weirdest Idol finale. It's like even 19E wants to be done with these kids. Lee made absolutely no impression tonight, as usual. And just now the judges are noticing that the fool is boring and charmless and tends to sing out of tune while wandering around the stage? Really? At one point during Beautiful Day, he was just standing there staring into the camera like "What do I do now?" You go home, little one. You go home. Crystal was awesome despite the fact that the judges tried to Happy Feet her with that damn Black Velvet. I don't know what to make of Ryan's assertion that the winner's first single will be some cover song, but at least we didn't have to hear Crap Winner's Single That Will Go Nowhere 2.0. (Although, for real, never heard Crystal's song before)
It just didn't even feel like a finale. It felt like any other episode.
ETA: Did someone just make the frikkin Gokey heart hands in front of the camera after Crystal's performance? Oh, hell to the naw.
