tiggy, but did Cat say "the person receiving the least amount of votes" - because that's the specific language that would convince me the rankings were accurate.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I'm very confused about what is actually live and what isn't.
For sure...all the dances where BOTH members were not in the Top 4 were live.
Ethan's butt dance was live.
Other than that...I'm not altogether sure.
Well hell...I'm not sure I know even that much.
Am scrolling to the bottom to not read whatever's already been posted, as I watch the finale...
I am so going to watch "Fame", Kherington or no. Sigh. But I will also watch "Step Up 3D", so...what can I say? I'm a whore for dance movies.
I'm wondering what the requirements are for the judges choices. I mean, obviously there's some practical needs, in terms of you can't have all dances with Brandon, or whatever, and you probably need one with each of your top four, or something, and you don't want all ballroom or whatever, but...I also wonder how much is everything else. Like, if ANY of it is favorites of that judge at all. If one of the judges was like "but I love THIS ONE" does that count at all? Or does Nigel have certain ones picked out as "this must be in the finale" or what? (Would any of the judges be like "MUST HAVE RUSSIAN FOLK DANCE"? Hee!)
I am SO ANNOYED at the camera work--they just showed the Calle Ocho dance, which I loved originally, and half the time they were panning out so far there was more of the audience than there was of the dancers. YES, I want to see the whole stage, but I'd like it to be close enough to see the damn DANCING, I dont' care about the fans!
Lil C picked Jai Ho? Seriously? (OK, his reasoning is cool, but...i also gotta giggle secretly inside thinking he just didn't like any of the hiphop).
OK, 4th Place Kayla! Whew!
And 3rd place Evan!! YAY. Now I'm happy no matter the outcome.
ARRRRGH! I caught up on TiVo, and so I went to read Facebook during commercials...and got SPOILED!!! BOO, bad friends!
But YAY, Jeanine! :) (Why is Brandon all schlumpy dressed down, and she's in a fancy dress?)

I did the same thing on Twitter. HATE it when I do that.
I didn't even turn on my computer for just that reason.
I'm not surprised Kayla was last, she was in the bottom a number of times. I was just relieved that Evan was third so I could relax. Glad to see that breaking down and voting might have had some result.
So in season's past, they haven't made a big deal out of 4th place, 3rd place, etc. They've just eliminated people until they got down to the winner. I distinctly recall S3 when Sabra won, Nigel admitted in interviews post-season that Danny did not come second even though the order of elimination on top 4 night was Lacey, Neil, Danny and Sabra declared the winner. But they made such a big deal out of the 4th place, 3rd place thing tonight, who knows? I can totally believe that was the actual order of finish. Kayla and her stank attitude turned lots of people off, even though she is an amazing dancer. The judges did a total hit job on Evan, so I can see him coming third. And I totally and fully believe that Jeanine flat out won. Tons of signs for her at the taping.
Both the Top 16 group routine and the top 8 group routine were pre-taped. And yes, seeing Shankdaddy and Ms. Debbie Allen with her out of control weave was perhaps the highlight of my entire life. Bitch can still move.
I thought some of the judges' picks were just odd. The Asuka/Vitolio waltz? The Chbeeb/Jeanine NappyTab piece? Jai Ho? Really? Also, it was curious how many of the favorite dances came before the top 10, even before top 12. Doesn't say a lot for the back half of the season. That said, the Kayla/Kupono piece was even better tonight than it was the first time. They were stunning. And Kupono is sooooo pretty. Likewise, the Jeanine/Jason piece was so glorious. And that is just a damn sexy dance. Whoo, child! And the Janette and Brandon tango remains the best tango ever done on this show (although the first time was even better!) and it's a ridiculously tough routine. I loved Mark and Chelsie's tango, but Janette really just brings it in that routine.
I can't believe that they picked the disco over the jazz/broadway piece with Brandon and Janette. I wonder if that was because of the lack of stairs on the Kodak set.
Side note: they need to get rid of disco as a dance genre here. Bring in crumping or something.
They tried crumping in S2. Travis and Martha. It was somewhat less than buck. Although I'm actually a fan of the Chuy/Sara Krump, I still think it's not quite right. I can't even with the Dom/Mischa Chan krump but at least we got to see Lauren almost bust her ass. That was fun. And I Get Money is a great song.
