This is my last day at work
Mine, too. Luckily everyone else here is in a similar "let's wrap these last things up and go" mode, so I'm not getting pulled into meetings and whatnot. (Except for Star Wars squee meetings with one of my fellow geeks--I'm ok with those.)
I've checked in for my flight tomorrow, sent in a hold-mail order, arranged cat care (my neighbors are great, and Leifur will probably have nearly as much of their company as he would have had of mine), done my laundry, and even cleaned a little. I'm hoping tonight will just entail packing, running the dishwasher, and cuddling the cat. That's about all I'll be up for.
I made my coffee and my todo list for the day. It's a bit intimidating, but I'm trying to just forge my way through it. Starting with the food stuff and the laundry, as I know eventually I'll need to put all my chores aside and help Cody with the Sisyphean task of sorting his mother's books for keep/donate/store in the attic.
I have to pack for Grandma's in Richmond, where it will be mid-seventies, and LA, where it won't be that warm. El Nino is keeping me on my packing toes.
It's going to be 80 degrees on Christmas in New Orleans.
Yeah here too, 82 and thunderstorms! Woo!
It's now official (sort of): LDB is the worst.
I intended to get up and go to work at a reasonable time this morning, but jetlag is being a beast. I didn't really wanna go to my 9am and 9:30am meetings, so I have declined them, figuring I would mostly be incoherent.
My new goal is just to make it into to work so I can do two things. No, three things. That is all.
I figure I'm owed a few days considering I lost the last three weekends to international work travel.
I am feeling vindicated! I ran 5 miles this morning AND (AND!!) I have finished my work conference call AND AND AND I sent my package to my mom.
Kat, you're winning all the adulting today!
You are way ahead of me, Kat.
So this happened to my college roommate and her family yesterday: [link]
Thankfully everyone is okay. What an awful thing to happen, ever, but right at the holidays seems especially terrible. I know Trudy's been through this as well.
