Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Librarian Warlord

Good luck with the interview, Stephanie! I hope they make you an offer and let you work from home!

Sorry to hear sleep was elusive for so many.

Last Saturday the mother of one of the librarians in my department passed away. Which makes 3 out of 4 librarians who have had mothers pass away this year. Yesterday, another librarian's wife was taken to the ER with acute appendicitis. It feels dangerous around here right now for family.

Art Crawl!!!

When my brothers were young - people used to think that they were twins - and not only are they two years apart in age but they look completely different from each other.

Meanwhile, just last week I was asked if I was a Cherokee or some other Native American.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Boing Boing sez:

Kirby sez, "Spot on parody of the NPR News Quiz Show during a Zombie Apocalypse. Peter Sagal, Carl Kassel, Mo Rocca, Paula Poundstone, and Tom Bodett don't miss a beat as they broadcast their last show before retreating to the cave system. The author gets the personalities perfect. You can imagine that this is exactly how the panelists would handle zombies."

oh, I forgot the funniest. In college, there were a handful of people who thought I was bi-racial: African-American/Caucasian.

It would be really funny if someone here had written that....

You know, I don't like starting my morning shoveling off the car. I just don't. Especially when huge clumps of snow are falling off the trees. OK, back to work.

ok hivemind I am seeking advice. I have written how there is some non-work stuff going on at work. It seems clear that a handful of people are taking steps on company time to start their own company. Would you all call an Ombuds office with the info? If you could do it anon?

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

My brother and I are very different looking but our mannerisms and speech patterns are so ridic similar that most people comment on how alike we are when they meet us.

Very very true.

I think my Italian/Swedish thing was less based on looks and more of a "your accent is way too good for an Anglo-Saxon and you're tall" thing.
