Still, I can't imagine the amount of denial involved in not registering the baby's movements.

Personally, I've always been deeply paranoid about an accidental pregnancy. It's amazing to me that someone wouldn't know.

I guess it's hard for me to think outside the very physical memories I have of being hugely pregnant and to imagine a pregnancy in which all the symptoms were muted and subtle enough that you might not notice them. I mean, sure, the first 4 months or so I could see zipping by. Maybe even 5 months. It's the full term part that throws me.

At 35 weeks PG, I seriously can't imagine not knowing. It feels like I have an alien in my stomach, just itching to bust out!

My daughter wants to go to a church, and I want to take her, but I'm not sure which one to go to. Not Catholic (sorry), and found the Unitarian Church not spiritual enough. Episcopalian?

I'm late on this one, Burrell and JZ, but I'm an Episopalian (Anglican, in Britain) and I love my church. The Anglical Communion is having some major issues lately (particularly around things that interest me, of necessity), but I've found a church home that is liberal, full of beautiful ritual that makes me very happy, and as diverse and interesting a congregation as you could want. And the priest* is doing the blessing at our civil partnership ceremony. It's possible to find all manner of views and styles within the Episcopalian church - it's literally a very broad church. Plus, in the US, it's famously liberal.

Moving on from a church isn't always the right thing for everyone who finds their church/denomination difficult, but sometimes it is. As JZ says regarding toxic church relationships.

*There's a whole sub-section of the British Anglican church which considers itself Anglo-Catholic (i.e. never changed much post-Henry VIII). We're practically Catholic, but usually more liberal and not run by the Pope. This compromise position works very well for me - but I don't know if it exists outside of Britain.
