I'm not sure about that, but they kindda make me want to be a goth, a little bit.
You're doing wonderful work with making it look extremely cool, as well as perfectly natural (edit: as in, explaining to other people that being a goth is a legitimate lifestyle choice).

So, the F2F is Father's Day weekend. I mentioned that I was going to be out of town, so my mother calls me and goes on about how it's a bad idea for me to be out of town and how I shouldn't be alone. I didn't know how to explain that if I do start feeling down, all I'd have to do is make an oblique reference to Father's Day, and about 20 people will be in front of me saying "what can I do to make it better". @@

Nate came home sporting a shiner and couple of scratches from some little bastard kid who threw his binder at him. Thank goodness he was wearing his glasses because those scratches were just that close to his eye. And of course, no adults around to see the incident and do anything about the little shit.
I did email the Dean, who's like the head discipline honcho and explained I understood it was the end of the school year and I knew very little could be done about it, but that I didn't appreciate my kid coming home with a black eye and scratches.

Yeah, but it's not like a black eye can be (believably) self-inflicted. At least not by a kid Nate's age. So it had to be inflicted by some *other* bastard kid. And if Nate isn't known for lying, I'd think he could at least report the kid, even if there were no adult witnesses.

Jilli, your GCStube served up a little plate-of-shrimp. I discovered this weekend that my DH, despite being an avid Adam Ant fan since ever, HAD NEVER SEEN any of his videos. It took me about an hour of boggling on this fact before I realized they were probably on YouTube (also Nightboat, by Duran Duran, but that's another story).
