So, the F2F is Father's Day weekend. I mentioned that I was going to be out of town, so my mother calls me and goes on about how it's a bad idea for me to be out of town and how I shouldn't be alone. I didn't know how to explain that if I do start feeling down, all I'd have to do is make an oblique reference to Father's Day, and about 20 people will be in front of me saying "what can I do to make it better". @@

Nate came home sporting a shiner and couple of scratches from some little bastard kid who threw his binder at him. Thank goodness he was wearing his glasses because those scratches were just that close to his eye. And of course, no adults around to see the incident and do anything about the little shit.

I did email the Dean, who's like the head discipline honcho and explained I understood it was the end of the school year and I knew very little could be done about it, but that I didn't appreciate my kid coming home with a black eye and scratches.

He's not known for lying, but he has gotten in trouble for a physical altercation earlier in the year-- plus the school has a policy/habit of treating all complaints of bullying/physical issues unless they're witnessed and reported by adults with the ubiquitous "You all really need to try to get along..."

The school's just too freakin' big to be effectively policed.
