I tell you I have this theory. It goes where, you're the one who's not my sister. Cuz mom adopted you from a shoe box full of baby howler monkeys, and never told you cuz it could hurt your delicate baby feelings.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Does she sing in French though? I wanted to use Arcade Fire, but they don't have that much in French.

Also, speaking of Arcade Fire, thanks PC!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

For the record, if I get around to posting, I'll be posting the Robots in Disguise song "La Nuit," the Apocalyptica song "En Vie," and something by Autour de Lucie.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

The extent of my Canadian film-making knowledge is Jesus of Montreal and Atom Egoyan. The latter of whom does include Francophone characters, now and then, but doesn't direct in French to my knowledge.

...and I thought I was all informed and stuff by knowing that Much Music, a music TV channel we used to get in the high, weird parts of cable was a Canadian (Anglophone) channel.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Aren't Godspeed You Black Emporer from Montreal? And Stars? And The Unicorns, who are now called Islands, I believe? And the genius guitarist for Pelican, Laurent Schroeder-Lebec. And the McGarrigle sisters - I can't think of their names, but one's Rufus & Martha Wainwright's mom? I think that's all I have.

As for Francophone African directors, I'm at a loss. But there's that actor guy, Isaac De Benkole (which I'm probably horribly misspelling), from the Jarmusch movies. I've heard of Ousmane Sembene, but I've never seen one of his movies. I've seen a movie about Fela Kuti called Music Is The Weapon, but I think the filmmakers were from French television.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

The Barbarian Invasions is the only Quebecois film I've seen in recent memory. That was Quebecois, right?

Kate and Anna McGarrigle.

Thanks! Are they actually French-Canadian or am I misremembering?

When megan says Quebecois, I think she means Francophone Quebecois, not just from Quebec. But those bands are all from Quebec.

Wikipedia says they were born northwest of Montreal and are associated with Quebec's Anglophone community, but have also performed and recorded a lot in French.
