Wikipedia says they were born northwest of Montreal and are associated with Quebec's Anglophone community, but have also performed and recorded a lot in French.

Being a lifelong resident of the Southern United States, I am very confused by your distinction.

He's apparently mainly questioning the state of rock criticism and received ideas of taste. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon a while back, but I've yet to receive a copy.
