I was so happy to see Bayless totally trounce the annoying French guy. What was up with him and his hard-on for beating Bayless? Also, just because you decided to do a quesadilla doesn't mean that's why Rick decided to do a taco. They have about as much to do with each other as gnocchi and ravioli, and his speciality is Mexican food. What did you think he was going to do, you condescending little fucktard?

I loved the Melissa/Ade rhumba. There was rhumba in that rhumba! Decent hip action. They were really down into the floor on the rhumba walks. And her extensions? Forget about it. And yes, her body is sick. I do kind of want Ade to choke on that afro pick, though. It's not even a little bit cute.

I really like Vitolio and he had some beautiful lines in that Mandy Moore piece, but I so wish he had a different partner. Asuka works my every last nerve. What was with the weepy weeping in the studio? It's Mandy, not Mia. She's a cream puff. And she gave them a ridiculously easy routine, which I'm so glad the judges called them on. In fact, they've had really easy routines three weeks running. Their Tasty Broadway was a whole lot of walking and posing, there was precious little closed hold in their waltz last week, and that jazz was one of the least demanding ones I've seen on the show. Lots of lifts and equal amounts of posing, but not many actual dance steps, and what ones they did have were out of synch (Thank you, Mary!). I think Asuka is not all that good outside of her style.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Definitely loved Melissa and Ade! One of those dances that looks so smooth and understated because it was done so damn well. And fucking hot! Whoo!

Brandon and Janette really blew that hip-hop set out of the water. Much more precision than the first routine. And just a lot of fun!

Okay, Evan and Randi were a very cheeky couple! Hee. Just a fun little dance. And Evan really stood out to me, but (and there is a butt) he always does. I felt this time that Randi was just sort of along for the ride on this one, but (and there is a butt) she was able to keep up so that's all that matters.

I liked the Jason/Caitlin routine. It was very theatrical and dramatic, which a paso doble should be. Sure, there were some posture problems, but minor in comparison to the overall feel of the routine. They definitely kept my interest throughout the dance.

The Broadway routine was fun, but I didn't feel Philip did it justice. Jeanine was fine, but Philip just looked heavy and slow. I'm afraid Philip is going to drag them into the bottom three.

The other dances were all kind of forgettable, sad to say. And I really want Asuka to go home. Vitolio is an extremely dynamic dancer and he's having to drag her around the floor. They'll be in the bottom three. Not going to try and figure out which of the other couples will be bottom three, but neither of them stood out, so either of them could go.

Janette and Brandon killed that hip hop routine. He was amazing. He looked like Chris Brown. (And that reference makes me really sad given the circumstances, but he totally did look like Chris Brown. I used to love Run It so much. It's a shame) But once again, I wasn't blown away by Dave Scott's choreography. So, I guess hip hop is now .5 for everything.

Art Crawl!!!

TCM: OMG, yes - with offal as the main ingredient - how could any person be shocked that Rick did Mexican. I am so, very happy that he won.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I was like "anyone but the French guy. What an asshole" and seemingly for no reason.

I'm thinking that his sense of humor did not translate well or something. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I like Kupono and Kayla as a couple and I thought the Viennese Waltz was lovely. They both had great lines and really nice rise and fall. Kupono lost his frame a litte bit at times and there was one hippity hop moment on that turn where she had her leg extended, but they were solid. And they looked very well together. I hope they make it another week because I think they could gel.

Evan and Randi are just too cute together and I loved that dance. I disagreed with Nigel. The choreography was not all that simple. Yes, Mia's done much tougher pieces in the past, but this dance required lots of body control, especially on Randi's part, and they handled it really, really well. And Evan is so musical. It's a joy to watch.

I would not have known that Jason and Caitlin were supposed to be doing a Paso if they hadn't said so at the top of the routine and that's a real problem. Their technique was horrible. Awful, awful. For both of them, the frame was crap. And all of their moves lacked power and intention. The dance itself was flashy but content free. 90% of the impact was from the costumes. And I still think Caitlin was better in this than Jason. His split leap was pathetic. Bah. I did not enjoy.

I think I might vote for the first time, just to be sure that Melissa and Ade, Jeannette and Brandon, and Evan and Randi move on, because they were definitely the best of the bunch tonight.

Agreed, those three were my favorites. I loved Mia's dance.

I was bummed that the Paso Doble wasn't better since I look forward to that each season. I like Carmina Burana as much as anyone, but I thought the music was really distracting.
