Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

SYTYCD!! I cannot wait to see who is paired up with whom.

I read somewhere else that Brian Friedman and Shane Sparks are both going to be back choreographing for the show this season. So so exciting. I hope that means less NappyTab and Tasty. They both really need to go somewhere and take a long break. I would also love for Desmond Richardson to come back and choreograph again this year because after what he did with that Will/Katee piece, I would kill to see him get his hands on Brandon.

Since new shows are starting up, should we update the header?

Okay! But I'm going to leave Mythbusters in as sundry, because it's still airing new for the next few weeks.

I wonder if they'll do another Bollywood number? I started tuning into the show last season a few eps before the Bollywood number with the winner (Josh, right?) and Katee, and loved seeing it--it was the first number that really stood out for me.

I remember Joshua's samba. More specifically, I remember him in those tight black pants, lawdamercy!!!

SYTYCD - Mmm, mambo.

Anyway, yes! I am excited about the pairings. Who do you think would go well together? Or do we not have a strong enough sense of the women yet?

I think I'd like to see Maksim with the blonde sister, maybe Asuka with the Kasprzak brother? I dunno for Kupono; a good partner might really make the difference for him.

TC:M - I cannot wait. I'm going to miss Tom, though.

Oh, and the one where they were playing a couple where he was going to Iraq and there was this amazing move where he seemed to float up on his toes!

Relive the memories:

information libertarian

That was Joshua and Katee's first dance - the first week.

Top 20 is always sort of a blur. It's hard keeping them all apart.

TC:M is on at 10:00 eastern time, right? I could have sworn I saw a commercial yesterday that said 9:00, but that could have been a local one with local time.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Last Night I went trolling on the interwebs looking for anything about the Mia hate-on for Brandon being fake drama for tv and sadly could not find anything. The folk who were in that workshop should start posting on message board and call it out.

Also cannot wait for the show tonight.

Joshua + Tight Pants = Ratings gold

Much like the shirtless Neil and Danny equation. Although Joshua's tight pants did lead to some unfortunate moments for Nigel and Joshua's father and Joshua's father's behind that should just never have happened.

I think they will have more bollywood this season and in general I've heard that they are going to really try to branch out into other styles of dance this year. I loved Katee and Josh's Bollywood and I loved the group Bollywood as well. I cannot for the life of me remember who the choreographer was for those pieces.

Choreographers I am hoping to see this season:

Mia - She is crazy and often times a bitch as a judge, but I do love her choreography. She did my favorite group dance last year (The Dance) as well as one of my favorite partner pieces (Katee/Joshua contemporary)

Wade - Change every "she" above to a "he" and you'll have my feelings about Wade. Top 20 group dance was amazing and his Katee/Joshua piece was also good.

Shane - I will be so happy to have Shane back because the hip hop last year was tired. I remain unimpressed with Dave Scott's choreo for this show although I have liked much of his work for other venues. I can't even count NappyTab because what they choreograph is not really hip hop.

Lil C - I think he's gotten consistently better as a choreographer and I just in general love him.

Sonya - Her Secret Garden piece for Mark and Courtney last year was phenomenal and I think I was one of the few people who really enjoyed her piece with Kourtni and Matt. I love her quirky style.

Mandy Moore - She's very hit or miss for me, but when she's on, she's wonderful.

Melanie and Tony - I enjoy their work for the show more than Jean Marc, even though Jean Marc is way more entertaining.

Brian Friedman - The quality of the choreography decreased significantly when B Free left the show. Also, he can bring the crazy like few others. I hope they let him back on the judge's panel.

Shankman - I hope they let him choreograph some partner dances this year because he'd be so much better at doing Broadway for this show than Tasty. Loved his group Hairspray number from the Sabra/Danny season.

Tovaris Wilson - He hasn't been around since season 2, I think, when he did an amazing piece for Natalie and Musa to that song Closer. I would love to see him come back.

Formere Contestants - Anya and Pasha did that amazing Cha Cha for Courtney and Gev last season and Dmitry's samba for Danny and Lacey is still one of my favorite dances of all time on this show. I would love to see them bring back Hok to choreograph some hip hop, for example, or let Travis choreograph a contemporary piece.
