Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Woody Allen? Someone funny? I want to put it in my Facebook status!
It was Woody Allen.
I think u-turning Amanda and Kris was a smart move. And we've got three all female teams left! And no more couples. It's kind of amazing.
Thanks!
TAR: Good move on Luke's part, as much as I like Amanda and Kris. They were a very strong team, so U-turning them was smart.
It was smart, but I would have preferred to see the stunt men gone because they apparently SUCK AT DOING EVERYTHING. It's kind of unbelievable how many things they did wrong this leg.
(In principle, I'm glad to see all the young white couples eliminated, but also in principle, I'd rather the most competent teams make it to the finals. So I have competing principles here.)
I had to fast forward through much of TAR because I was so anxious about Mel & Mike maybe getting eliminated! I realized after that I never understood the bobsled challenge because I ff'ed through the instructions. What was the point of it? Finding the letters in Chekhov's name? or did they just have to find letters and then figure out whose name they were spelling?

This. And I was amazed at how many of the teams had NO CLUE who Chekhov was.

They had to finish the course in under 4 minutes and spot letters along the way. Then they had to spell the name of "A Russian playwright" using those letters.
Of all the teams, only Victor knew who Chekhov was! I was surprised at how many teams were guessing. (And it never occured to me that Luke would have that much trouble, but in retrospect it makes perfect sense - he can't "sound it out" in his head the way the other guessing teams could.)
They had to find the letters while doing the bobsled in 4 minutes or under and then spell out the name.
(I was surprised by the number of people who didn't know who Chekhov was and guessed the name.)
And I was amazed at how many of the teams had NO CLUE who Chekhov was.
Oh, yeah, I gathered that. dag, people! Not even Mike & Mel knew??? That's disappointing.
