Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

They gave her a sous chef. And Casey is string enough in the kitchen that Carla's deferential streak kicked in.

And she needs to not beat herself up over it. She came in effectively tied for second place. There's no shame in finishing that close. It means you're competetive at this level. I'm sure not winning hasn't taken Stefan down a peg at all.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, I'm so disappointed! Fucking Casey.

Also, I can't believe they said "twat" on TV.

But really: Fucking Hosea??? And did Tom look less than thrilled when they did the round of, "Do we have a winner?"?

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

But really: Fucking Hosea???

It must have been the Ilan Hall memorial "Top Douche" season.

And did Tom look less than thrilled when they did the round of, "Do we have a winner?"?

Lea saw his face and said, "Wow. That look says it all."

And, it's hard to take it away from him, on the strength of that meal. Stefan got cocky and sloppy, and Carla let someone else sway her judgment too easily. They pretty much got undone by their primary weaknesses. Whereas douche-iness is a weakness rarely punished in these situations. (It's punished later, when people see the TV footage and know you for what you are.)

Yeah, you know, it's true about Carla -- she did less well earlier in the season, when it was all about team challenges. She just needs to be alone to do her own thing.

Trust my rage

You know, Carla may have lacked confidence and Stefan maybe had too much, but Hosea was the weakest of the three. I can't believe he won.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It must have been the Ilan Hall memorial "Top Douche" season.

FOR REAL.

I am so MAD at Casey.

Because books.

I am so MAD at Casey.

I want to be, but the truth is, maybe her beef and her souffle would have come out, if she had been preparing them? I'm just so disappointed that Carla didn't stick to her guns. It wasn't even a matter of Casey strong-arming her -- it seems like Carla is just too easily swayed if she's not left completely alone. And she *knows* it now.

I would have preferred Stefan to win over Hosea once Carla was out, honestly.

But she wasn't. She was a SOUS chef. And she should have shut the hell up and got to chopping.

Obviously Carla has some responsibility to stick up for herself too, but godDAMNIT I'm pissed.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yes, I'm pissed too. I blame Casey as well. I feel like Casey's ego got the better of her and instead of saying: "Carla, this is your meal, you need to make sure you represent yourself well" - that is, giving advice that might be useful - she kind of tried to do her own thing.
