I'll pretty much watch anything with the words "food" and "competition" in the description. I'm dreadfully easy to please.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Anyone watch "Superstars of Dance" last night?
If you didn't, you TOTALLY didn't miss anything. I was all "Oooh! Flashy trashy new dance show!"....and then watched the first like, three contestants, and couldn't stand to watch any more. It was awful. Terrible. Just bad and not even in a fun way. So sad.
I caught the end of "Superstars of Dance" and loved the Chinese monks routine.
But not sure if I could sit through the whole thing. Michael Flatley (or however you spell his name) makes my teeth itch. And the judges...and the cry/cringe couch with the "coach"...no, just no.
Sounds like I should be glad I missed it. Although, like car crashes I might just have to find a few minutes of it to rubberneck and cringe at.
I dvr'd it and watched on fast forward through everything but most of the dances. I'd say 80% of the routines were weak-ass stuff that didn't deserve an international viewing, 15% of the remainder got lower scores than they should have, and only 5% were any good and viewed as such.
The best routines (IMO) were the South African and Chinese groups, the Argentine duet, and the Indian soloist. The Australian group had no energy and didn't dance as a group, and the Aussie soloist was a passable tapper with a horrendous costume.
So, I'm not watching it again. I'll just wait for So You Think You Can Dance? to come back--the dancing was much better on that show.
The show is absolutely terrible. It defines suck. I couldn't believe how bad everything is: the host(s), the dancing - except for 2 pairs IMO, the camera angles, the production values.
This is literally the worst dance show I have ever watched.
And yet, I will watch all the episodes.
Hee. You guys are sad, obsessed dance show fans.
I have managed to not watch the first episode of the Bachelor and will therefore not be sucked in.
I'm sure of it.
I am v. cultural and high-minded and have been doodling in my sketchbook and watching The Story of India.
Until, my computer drew me in to check on my BSG dvds progress to me and look at pictures of IRWS at this weekend's dog shows.
Hee. I watched the last part of the Superstars premiere and was mildly disappointed. I missed tonight's ep.
I will likely watch the Food Network one, and I am excited to hear about the jockey show.
Oh, and I'm trying to decide about Idol.
Whether or not I watch Chopped! depends on when it airs. (Can't recall.)
But I'm sure it will repeat on the weekend, right?
I'm definitely watching the Jockey one.
Anyone planning to watch the Food Network's attempt at Top Chef?
As my wife's secret gay TV boyfriend is hosting, it'll inevitably be given a shot. Also, there's a woman from Worcester competing on it, whom my paper's food critic quite likes. So that's something.
