Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

I watched SYTYCD for the first time last night (after seeing the various YouTube clips posted here last week), and I must say that DVRing it was the best way to watch it. That way, I could skip past most of the screaming meemies in the audience (this is why I don't watch Idol, either) and the rehearsal clips and go right to the performances.

I agree with the judges on most of dances, and my favorite was a tossup between the Bollywood number (really well done, with all the energy that was missing from both the quick step and the tango that preceded it) and the map number (very fun!).

(I did a little "Hey, I know her!" when I saw the choreography Melanie, because she was one of my favorite What Not to Wear makeovers.)

I think I'll be tuning into the rest of the season, and watch it the same way I did last night.

TiVo is key for SYTYCD, especially the results show.

The Bollywood was definitely my favorite. Although, if Nigel has been trying to do something like that for some time, as he claimed, wouldn't it have made more sense for a group number?

I don't get the love for the first Will/Jessica dance. It looked so labored. And much as I don't like Jessica, I don't think that was her. And Mia was right the first time--the music sucked.

SYTYCD: I also agree that the judging is horrible this season. For me though, the problem is that they are not acknowledging the choreography shift. I feel like in early seasons the Viennese waltz was, you know, a Viennese waltz. And they critiqued technique with the ballroom stuff. But how can you critique the ridiculous floaty Celine Dion one that Twitchington did? The paso doble is about the matador and his cape, not two matadors. How did the twist even appear in a quickstep?

But, no, every routine has the "fabulous choreography" of "insert name here" and aren't we lucky?

I missed the show last night, but just watched the Bollywood dance on Youtube and got chills. Man, they tore that up!

Man, they tore that up!

Do we think the little peck on the cheek Joshua gave Katee during the dance was part of the choreography, or not?

I thought that looked spontaneous.

I think that Joshua and Katee are the strongest couple. Will is an incredibly strong dancer, literally and figuratively (those thighs!!!!!), and I think that Jessica drags him down.

I'd love to see Will and Katee do contemporary.

me too, flea.

I would also like to see Mark and Jessica paired up. I think that would be an interesting mix. Maybe Mark and Courtney.

Just watched it, and have to agree on so much stuff. I really really wish they would switch out the partners sooner. Because there are so many people who would have such a different time if they had switched earlier.

Barring a huge upset, I think Thayne and Comfort are going home tomorrow.

I can't imagine who else would.

I felt like Mia veered from honest and truthful to being just overly harsh, as the judging went on. Because (a) there's no way Comfort isn't going home tomorrow. Lighten up. And (b) Jessica is already going to get a new partner other than Will, if she makes it to the top ten, so you don't need to go on and on about how he's tired supporting her and needs a new partner. Damn. We get it already.

I can't wait for them to all have to dance with new people. Can you imagine Gev and Jessica?

The problem I'm having is that I don't especially like any of the girls. I'm finding Katee is working for me quite a lot, and Chelsie I'm not hating on much, but none of them are really making me go "Ooooh!" So I am not especially looking forward to the pairings of the boys with any of them, other than in terms of BAD pairings.

Do the judges hate Mark? That makes me sad, cause I love him. Him and Will and Joshua, though I can tell Joshua isn't as good a dancer, obviously, he's still awesomecakes.
