Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

'Til we dance away...

I definitely was not hanging out in the right places in Seattle! I don't see the sultriness (that looks like sluttiness so maybe I am spelling wrong- but I guess that too!) in the "Country dancing" that I see in those examples of WCS, but the moves are similar. Either that or these crazy Montana kids don't know how to dance sexy!

Heh. Maybe it's cause I"m hanging out with the gay country dancers. Who dance at the leather bar. :)

But I feel like if someone besides BENJI taught a sexy WCS to someone on the show (like, say, Mark. Or Joshua.) they could tear that up in smokin' style, and not in cheesy "look, we're doing cartwheels and pasting big grins on our faces!" ways.

To, y'know, bring this thread back around to the topic of SYTYCD. :)

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Butting in to sit in the sexy WCS corner with meara -- I lovelovelove East Coast very deeply, especially to watch, but IM(very limited)E it's not quite as loose and playful as WCS to dance.

I did a WCS class once years ago where they had us all form a huge double circle, leaders on the outside, followers on the inside, and had the leaders move one partner over every 4 bars or so. And sparks were flying all the hell over the place. The best dancer there actually turned out to be a little bitty Wallace Shawn-esque pudgy middle-aged balding man, who was just ludicrously at home in his funny little body and had a gorgeous sense of hip-sway and play and slow lazy fun. By the time he'd rotated all the way around the room, he could have taken every single straight woman there, and half the queer women and most of the men, home with him if he'd wanted.

Less fun to watch than ECS, but crazy fun to dance. I'd happily commit a felony to get Hec to take a class with me.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I spent most of the afternoon watching you tube clips from previous SYTYCD seasons since I never watched it before. I love Lacey and Sabra's finale dance.

How much do you think the judges consider the match-ups they will leave when voting off?

I think the judges very much think about this when deciding who to boot off, which is why I believe they will go for the couple boot tonight of Matt/Kourtni. They seem to like the new Comfort/Thayne pair. And while I'm not mad about it, I think Comfort/Matt would be even worse (because of the height difference). And if Matt goes, then Kourtni definitely would have to go because who else is tall enough to dance with her? All bets are off, though, if Jessica and Will hit the bottom 3 tonight.

Kherington and the shoe thing is still very distrubing. She was wearing dance sandals in the rehearsals, why did they put her in boots for the dance?

I am enjoying the West Coast/East Coast swing discussion. I'm not all that familiar with WCS, but I remember loving Benji's audition piece (and Lacey's too) and they were both WCS pieces. Very sexy and flirty and fun.

I wonder who choreographed the group number tonight? So far, I think the quality of the group pieces has been incredibly high.

Hmm. I didn't dislike the number, but I wasn't wild about it. SYTYCD needs to stop doing Cabaret. It needs to be a lot grimier and grittier than the kids are going to get. And Will is very pretty, but Mark totally could've done a better Joel Grey. Eh. It'll do in a pinch.

ETA: Nice fake out. Mary needs to be taking notes. That's how it's done.

ETA: Oh, no. My pocket couple! You really can't fight the shirtless hotness. That means yet another week of Jessica (unless Comfort and Thayne somehow managed to leapfrog them - which would be a huge shocker). I do love how Nigel basically assured them that they wouldn't be going home tonight. He hates Matt.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Tice did that number and I actually hated it. Oh, and the camera work totally sucked!

Oh, and the camera work totally sucked!

This. All season long.

Tyce really needs to give up on his obssession with Cabaret. What is this, the third? fourth time?

Yay, Popper Dude! I love this guy. I hope this doesn't mean that he can never be on the show as a contestant now.

I think he was happy with dropping out when he did.

Kourtni and Matt: Both solos were really lovely. They are beautiful dancers.

Courtney and Gev: Fun solos. Courtney was shaky on her turns, but she was good. Gev's solo was great. Very well choreographed, not just a bunch of tricks. And the tricks that were there were well done.

Comfort and Thayne: Comfort is getting better at the solos. I think that was her best one yet. Matt is better than Thayne. And the Guy Smiley thing has got to stop.

Based on those solos, I'd send Thayne and Comfort home. Let's see if that will happen. I kinda doubt it.

ETA: And Nigel and his pants are overruled. Well, at least he got to get rid of Matt, which is bullshit. But Comfort and Thayne's days are numbered. I'd be shocked if they made it through next week.
