The Backbeats have been wearing on my over the show's run, but I really loved their "Love Shack." It was fun, peppy, and the costumes and choreography were perfect.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, right. Out of that bracket they would have been the weakest. That also explains why the frat boys are still around.

Backbeats are too constructed for me, too deliberate. I wouldn`t mind liking them because they`re cute, but it`s too. I dunno, purposeful or something. It`s why Love Shack worked for them, I think, because that band has the same sort of staged drama as them. But the SO pointed out that the vocals on the original were just so BIG that they couldn`t really compete.

Before yesterday's show, I thought that it would be Backbeats or the frat boys who would be out next, but Groove for Thought's "Changes" was so weak that there was no chance anyone else would have gone home. Also, they were suffering from the fact that, as pretty as their jazzy Mannhattan Transferesque styling was, it was getting a bit old. I'm having the same thought about Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town--they're fabulous in that style, but they have to do something else tomorrow.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Jerry Lawson's group. Every performance feels the same to me now. I still have no clue why Easy would be a guilty pleasure. My fear is that the judges will pass them on to the finale just because they have so much respect for him though.

I'm really torn between wanting Committed or Street Corner Symphony to win.

I know! When they announced what song they'd be doing, I thought "WTF?" Actually, I had the same thought about "Love Shack"--that's a rock classic, not a guilty pleasure. "Rock Lobster" is more of a guilty pleasure.

I'd love it if they had a round of folk songs for the groups to sing. It'd be great to hear an accapella version of John Denver's "Aye, Calypso," which is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Art Crawl!!!

I refuse to feel guilty about loving "Rock Lobster."

I really think only OTR and Streetcorner Symphony adhered closely to the guilty pleasure code. Kyrie and Come On, Eileen? I'll give you that. Easy is by no means a guilty pleasure. That's a straight up R&B classic. You Make My Dreams Come True is a great pop song (as is Love Shack). I know anything BSB qualifies as a guilty pleasure for some, but I Want It That Way was an absolute smash and stayed number one on the pop charts forever and ever. And it's an awesome song. Then again, I have BSB blinders. What I'm saying is, it's no Kyrie.

Because books.

"Easy" is, for me, AM radio in my mom's car when I was a kid. I love that song.

Because books.

I have the HUGEST music crush on Streetcorner Symphony tonight. Pure love. And man, did the judges ever pick the right song for them.
