Angel: You know, I killed my actual dad. It was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire. Wesley: I hardly see how that's the same situation. Angel: Yeah. I didn't really think that one through.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The constant badgering of Michael C by the rest of the designers and his own poor-little-me attitude about it is really taking a toll on my enjoyment of this season. AND I'm not really loving the clothes.

I thought the winning dress last night was a disaster - if the pink upholstery monstrosity was a bad bat mitzvah dress, the satin/lace/velvet/kitchen sink puffy thing was worse. It looked like a bad prom dress from the 1980's done in black.

Mondo was robbed. That was a great dress. I don't like this dinging for the styling.

The contrast between Nina disdainfully mentioning Snookie and Mondo loving his model's New Jersey swagger was pretty telling.

It wasn't just the judges that loved Michael C's dress though. He got a ton of votes from the public.

I can't stand Ivy. She's just vile.

Art Crawl!!!

Yes, I agree that Mondo shouldn't have lost because the judge's didn't like the styling. I thought he did a great job.

Yeah, I didn't understand that either.

Because books.

I liked Mondo's dress, but I didn't love it. It needed something, for me.

Maybe Michael C.'s dress looked different in person? I was a little surprised that so many of the people at the show voted for it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just don't understand how the satin bodice with lace top and sleeves isn't an 80's prom look.

That was my thought, Jesse. The client wanted it, not him, but then Nina actually complimented the sleeves! Which I thought needed to be at least shorter or capped or something, if they had to be there at all.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I, er, liked the original bridesmaid dress so I don't feel I can weigh in on the 80s-ness of the sleeves.

giraffe mode

I liked Mondo's dress but it just needed a tiny bit more 60's "mod" to make the styling work better. Christopher's dress was a vast improvement but oh that color was just ugh! (I am not a fan of that shade of green at all) Michael C's dress was OK but I didn't love the bodice at all and it was waaaay too short.

My dislike of Ivy and Gretchen is making me not want to watch any longer. My daughter said last night that they made Irina, Jeffery and Kenley look kind in comparison.

Oh my god, yes. They're so mean girl cliquey, it's just gross.

What I'd love to know is if Tim has ever called anyone out like that before, and we just never saw it due to time constraints (and this season having the extra half hour to fill). Then I think, surely they would have *made* time for that, because it's such good TV and so unexpected, so yay, Gretchen! You're the first person Tim Gunn ever identified as the villain!

What a dubious distinction.
