Cat's hair was awful. So was the waltz. But I liked Robert for the first time as a clown...maybe because I couldn't see his face.
And I agree that Kent was so born to do Broadway!
I have to say, WTF is up with the disco love?? We got NO west coast swing this year (it is a sexy awesome dance!), have only had two-step once (a TRAVESTY of a two-step), and we have disco ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Seriously, WTF? Can we revamp this a bit? I just hate disco so much.
I was all distracted during the tango because now that I've been taking tango classes I was like "Ooh! I recognize those moves!" (well, the basic ones. Not so much the random fancy lifts and shit)
And I was glad to see Adam say something about Teh Ghey, and Nigel not be a big jackass homophobe either right then, or after Travis' "this really isn't gay at all nope nuh uh" dance.
There was not enough work in hold in the dance, so much side by side dancing I thought I was watching a contemporary piece.
Exactly what I was thinking while I was watching!! If I didn't know better, I could have sworn it was contemporary, because I saw no more than five seconds total of actual waltzing. Last season's VW with Jakob and Mollee was a great example of how to blend contemporary styling into a Viennese waltz, and this was soooo not.
Benji and Donyelle still have my favorite Viennese Waltz ever on the show. That was back in the day when they actually made these kids throw a little ballroom up in their ballroom. Contrast that with whatever Anya and Robert did this evening.
And it's not like Anya can't do a proper Viennese Waltz. She was lovely in this piece with Danny, and while it did have some contemporary elements, there was much more work in hold which she executed quite well.
Bleagh. I just did not enjoy that dance with Robert tonight and can't understand why the judges were creaming themselves over it.
Now that's Viennese Waltz done right on SYTYCD, dammit. Sigh. I miss Danny so, so much.
Kent could dance on Broadway with Kristin Chenoweth! They would be pocket-sized together!
The judging was totally wackadoo -- when Nigel complimented Robert's lift and they showed a replay? It looked like shit! I mean, right? I just don't care any more. I wish there were some way to vote for Alex to win anyway.
Although how that dance for two "friends" was different from any other "lovers torn apart as interpreted through the powers of dance" piece is beyond me.
Yeah, it was just in the closet.
BB: Am I crazy, or is a showmance supposed to be a mostly-fake romance for stragetic purposes, not Tru Luv?? I feel that Dr Will would be disappointed in the use of the word.
Seriously. Those Bachelor type shows would sell their grandmothers to have this "success" rate.
I'm flipping between SYTYCD & PR and saw that Lauren made it into the finale!
Who else made it to the finale?
I've liked Abdi from the beginning, and he really has progressed. His piece tonight was stunning. I had hoped that Nicole would make it. I liked her and thought that she was really talented. I am vaguely annoyed with the judges. If Miles had done that piece, they would have creamed all over it. She also got robbed of a couple of wins during the season. I want Abdi to go all the way. He's incredibly talented and a good person.
I agree with all of this, except I didn't like Nicole's piece at all. I can't believe Peregrine didn't go home, but thank god that Jaclyn did.
