Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

It was fun to see the all-stars mixing it up with the newbies, but I think the contestants got lost in the crowd sometimes. Seems like the focus should have been on them more than on the all-stars. That said, I love to see everyone dance before the competition begins. Alex is like unto a god to me. Adechike looks promising, too. Oh, heck, they all look great.

Kathryn was one of my favorites last season, and it was extra cool to see her again. And Mark! And Ade! Love 'em.

Because books.

I loved the opening group number, too. That was gorgeous.

Ooh, yes, the opening was great. I love Wade Robson (most of the time).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, I'm a little concerned at what this means for the hip hop dancing on SYTYCYD this season. We have 1 such dancer who has this as his expertise and 3 from previous seasons. So what does this mean?

That they couldn't find other hip hop dancers in the THOUSANDS who tried out who could do the other styles? That they feel there have been too many winners who were skilled in this area, so they are trying to weight it the other way (not unlike Nygel's constant harangue that a woman needed to win 2 or so seasons ago).

It is nice when we get a couple of good hip hop routines each season, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Oh my stars, Mark! He was ruling that center in Wade's tea party piece. The bitch is just fierce. The only newbie who managed to pull my focus from him was Robert, who was turning it out. The final pose with Mark next to Alex was almost too much pretty for my screen. I loved the piece. I love Wade. Amanda is not a choreographer. Please stop.

Toothy Blonde Cheerleader (TBC) and Kent in a Travis piece - Kathryn and Mark! It's just. . . I mean. . . Gah! So gorgeous. The exact thing that I was afraid of happened. The two newbies got totally outdanced. Kent had a few good moments during his solos, but Kathryn waxed that ass for TBC. It wasn't even close. Someone pull TBC's collar and tell her that it's not OK to smile through everything. As for Travis Wall, well, he is love. I would've guessed Sonya, which is a very good thing because it means Travis is growing and playing with new movement. Two snaps up.

Alexie and Melinda in a Tyce Broadway - Alison and Mischa Chan are the all stars. RIP, girls. Nobody should have to get saddled with a Tasty Broadway routine right out of the gate. And of course it's another fucking Fosse ripoff. Good googly moogly, someone please school this fool. I love Fosse, too, but there is more to Broadway then hunched shoulder and pelvis. The routine was too simple. Melinda really shone. She pulled the eye. Alexie was cute, but she looked like a chorus girl, not a star.

Had a long post, lost it all. The gist was: Alex, Billy, and Robert, yes! All other S7 kids, eh. Neill is still a gymnast but less hunchback than before. Mia and Sonya, Jason and Travis, yes! NappyTab and Tasty, hell to the naw. Pasha! Mark!

That was about it.
