Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

Art Crawl!!!

I loved the way the print worked once it was done but I didn't like the print in and of itself.

The idea of combining Graffiti based graphics with a 1940s shape was excellent.

And I have consistently loved Seth Aaron's work - and his attitude.

I hope Maya wins next week. If out top three are Emilio, Seth Aaron and Maya I will be very, very happy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In a change of pace for this thread, I'm watching Sober House, and feel so sad for Mike Starr. The real problem is, he needs real 90-day residential rehab, and then some! Not the 21-day bullshit of Celebrity Rehab. He's still detoxing!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

PR:

I didn't see the promo for next week's ep, but I am whitefonting here because I did not know one of the remaining designers did not show at Bryant Park - the person's name revealed below. They had 8-9 people show in BP, so I figured those remaining certainly should have. Here's the deal from comments at Rungay:

"The video says FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROJECT RUNWAY HISTORY one designer walks away. And then they tease with 'then one comes back.'" So clearly this will be must-see for the first time this season, but the designer who did not show is Maya. Wow.

Because books.

Okay, that dress of Amy's was just stupid. What the hell?

Seth Aaron is my favorite. I like Maya, but Seth Aaron's stuff is maybe more me? Not that I would wear some of it, but I like his sensibility.

In distracting news, he really reminds me of Julian MacMahon, rocker-style.

Le Nubian - that's too bad. And of course, I'm sad that my top three won't happen. I wonder what happened.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Like everyone else it seems, I thought it was time for Anthony to go, but I will miss that little peanut. The workroom will be a much quieter place now that he's gone.

I hated Emilio's print, but then again, I hate wearing any garment with the designers name plastered all over it, even if it's the Chanel double C. I don't want to be your walkng billboard, thank you very much. I did love the cut of the dress. And the jacket. The jacket was fierce. I always want to like Maya's work more than I end up liking it. The print was very beautiful, and I can see what she was going for with the collar, but it was a little much for me. I also thought the length was weird, and straight on, I didn't enjoy the pleated black center. Seth Aaron was by far my favorite, as he is almost every week. The print was sassy and while I, myself, wouldn't wear any of that, and certainly not together, I loved the look and thought on some other woman it would be stunning. Mila's look was awful. That print was just all over bad. And the dress was just boring and stiff, although I did like the way the straps were done in the back. I didn't think Jonathan's print was nearly as bad as the judges made it out to be. It was actually kind of pretty. The dress itself was just so sad. And the coat, well, I think disco straight jacket kind of sums it up.

Yes, that is exactly how I feel about it.

It occurred to me later, the disco straitjacket needed a lot more disco. If it had been just covered in shiny at least it would have been an interesting kind of bad.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I didn't think Jonathan's print was all that bad, but the disco straight jacket was pure unadulterated AWFUL. I'm also not sure how "working only in shades of pale, paler, and palest" equals "risk-taker" but whatever.

Why on earth didn't Mila just cut a quick slit up the side of her dress after the fitting so her model could walk? Just cut alongside one of the vertical stripes and hem it while the model was in hair & makeup.

Yeah, when I said they were harsh on Jonathan, I was only referring to the print, not the jacket.

True, but it was still awful. Mexican serape gay flag wasn't far off. But it mostly looked like she had a Scarlett moment and made a dress out of an L.L. Bean Hudson Bay blanket.

The thing about Mila's dress, she didn't seem to see that there was a problem, when she was fitting or even on the runway - she said something about the model hiking up the dress like the model was the problem. Could be editing, of course, but still. Not putting in a slit or shortening the skirt or *something* after the fitting tells me she just didn't see the problem. She had her vision and that was that.
