"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I love Shankman to pieces. Love him.

Because books.

That was pretty funny.

Was he a contestant once? Remember, last season was my first, so I still have newbie questions.

Shankman was the director/choreographer for Hairspray (the remake) and amongst other choreography jobs worked on a little thing called "Once More with Feeling" for a certain tv show.

Because books.

Was another one of the judges/choreographers a former contestant?

choreographers, yes. several have been former contestants. Travis, Benji, Pasha & Anya (I hate her blonde hair with the hate of 10,000 suns) shows up from time to time (he shows up when people have to do "choreography"), Lauren (much hated) shows up.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Shankman's demo rocked it! He won over the SO by not taking himself seriously. I was all, yeah, he is a serious artist so he can afford to not take himself seriously.

Everybody does arms to nowhere! Hahahaha! I probably did, too, back in the day.

Jesse, I don't know! I was worried when we hadn't seen him. I thought maybe his contract with the ballet wasn't up yet? Do we know? I need my hot ballet toy.

Thrive to spite them

Last season (I think it was last season) Shankman went up on stage and "auditioned" in front of some of the previous contestants.

He did the whole thing and even ran out screaming with his ticket Vegas.

Remember this summer when Shankdaddy danced the jive with that one auditioner who was, at best, a decent amateur jiver but you could tell she had fun with it? That was probably my favorite moment with him and the contestants.

Was he the one who talked to the contestant who was torn between following dance and following her religious beliefs? That was a good moment.
