I thought cell phones were included in the electronic devices list.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Nope, when you land, you can immediately use your cell phone, but no other ED until you're at the gate.
Although, I must admit, I still don't get why my iPod is a problem and a cell phone is not.
Huh? Cell phones have to be off the entire flight, unless you're on one with wifi. At least the iPod can get pulled back out after takeoff.
Oh, I see. I honestly think they just gave in to the inevitable on that one. And they don't want people getting other devices out because of the potential to clog up the offloading process.
Though it would never have occurred to me I couldn't turn the iPod back on. Maybe it's just that they don't mention it specifically in the "if you need your cell phone get it out now dumbass" announcement prior to landing?
He just never turned his iphone off when we took off, even after the attendant told him to do so a second time. I don't know if it was in airplane mode or not.
Sorry, since I mostly fly by myself, I have issues with that annoying time after you've landed and are taking forever to get to the gate while everyone around you is making the most pointless calls ever and you can't drown them out because your iPod will somehow make the landed plane crash.
If I felt there was an actual reason for the distinction, beyond "people will do it anyway", it might bug me less.
It doesn't mean Perkins seatmate still isn't obnoxious.
Yeah, it's ridiculous. I'm one of those people grabbing for the phone but pretty much always for email and texting. I don't like making calls at the best of times, let alone when I'm surrounded by people.
I don't usually watch DWTS, but this has SYTYCD Lacey and Mark Dacascos! [link]

I think the theory is that with earphones in you are much less likely to be able to hear instructions from the flight attendants/pilots because you are trying to drown out other noise.

I have such fond memories of watching him in The Crow TV series. (I've never watched whatever cooking show it is that they keep referring to when they introduce him, so it was disconcerting for me to see him as some sort of host.) I think with all his martial arts training he has the ability to move incredibly smoothly, although he was a bit rough last night.
