I think it's funny that I've spotted Shannon in a couple of things, and have seen NOTHING of Heidi, the actual winner.
I couldn't figure out why I had no memory at all of Heidi, but then I looked it up, and her name's Holly. I really thought I was losing it for a minute!
Yikes! See what happens when you don't see the winner around!
I liked Johnny's dress in motion, but not when the model was standing still. Irina's dress was my favorite.
I also liked the disco soccer ball dress - I think someone like Pink could pull it off for a VMA red carpet, and I wish they'd kept her around to see what else she can do. I wonder if she would have made it to the next round if she'd been able to verbalize her POV better.
But seriously, 90% of the middle of the crowd made cocktail dresses with basically identical silhouettes. YAWN.
(I like dramatic collars as much as the next person, but the cocktail-dress-with-random-crap-sewed-onto-the-boobs thing has got to GO.)
I'm not a fan of Sweet P's style, I guess, because all of those gowns left me feeling really "meh."
I was SHOCKED when she was in the final three, because I thought her collection was just terrible. Maybe they looked better in person than on TV, I don't know.

And I thought she didn't seem *quite* as loony in the post-aufed on camera thing. What she said about taking risks responsibly (?) or whatever seemed to prove she got that she went a little too far.

Yeah, I think she was just nervous being in front of the judges and came across as a total space cadet, instead of an avant garde designer. Too bad!
Agree.
And I think if she'd just used the hexagons for the main body of the dress and had cut panels of straight fabric in for the sides it might have worked for her. It would have fixed the bit where it hung really oddly.
Yeah, I agree about the identical silhouettes. In All Stars, when Chris' outfits came out, I was all, yeah that. Because he's nothing if not innovative with shape. He thinks about it, because it's like sculpture with him.
Whereas I think a lot of these designers think "Dress!" and then "Hmm, what can I do to make it interesting?" which is where we get random crap stuck on.
Sometimes not winning is the best thing that happens to you, because you're in the field and available when people are interested in you. Whereas the winners are swept off to do winner things, but by the time they're trying to book jobs themselves, they're off people's radar already.
exactly. although simon cowell has recognized this and now locks in all of the top five or so.
I agree that Sweet P's collection was not all that. I actively hated her red carpet dress.
Agree that Korto should have taken it instead of Daniel, but I knew Daniel was going to win from the beginning. I liked his red carpet dress, but hated the whole rest of the mini collection.
Totally. Every single piece of hers was great. He had one that had any appeal at all.
Also? What's so fucking edgy and high-fashion about women who look like they've got black eyes? I know he was going for sporty, or something, but it left me with a really bad taste in my mouth.
