On the whole, I dug the new "Runway." It was promising. The "all-Star"challenge? Not so much. Waaaay too much bitchiness, and what the hell was up with Chris falling asleep all the time? That's just not right.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
My guess: sleep apnea.
He needs to be evaluated ASAP.

what exactly did you expect? Did anyone else notice that Santino did not come out to congratulate Daniel? I rewound and checked.
what the hell was up with Chris falling asleep all the time? That's just not right.
They riffed on that during his season. His position was "I'm finished with my garments, and I'm tired. Why shouldn't I sleep" Now falling asleep during the model casting . . . I still love him like my luggage though. And he was a total woobie when he talked about how he was so honored to be among the great designers. And Heidi was so there for him!
I didn't watch the All-Star Challenge. I also was completely unaware of the PR models show but am taping it sometime this weekend. I'm guessing it may provide useful intel. . . okay, maybe not useful.
Chris WAY underestimates his talent. I've loved him for a long time and I LOVED his final collection. I cannot believe the judges didn’t' let him in the final three. That gorgeous blue dress was fucking awesome.
check out his collection all over again from Fashion Week:
That gorgeous blue dress was fucking awesome.
yes, he should have used that for his one look for the judges, but he wanted to go edgy and used the hair dress.
I read Tim's blog afterward, and he said that the judging went on for hours and what it ultimately came down to was the question "who is your client" and Rami was eloquent and detailed, where as Chris said "oh, I don't know, some young woman" (or something like that).
I would let Chris design for me ANY day. Not only would I have a great garment at the end, we would have a ball!
My guess: sleep apnea.

Yeah, totally. My father used to fall asleep any time he sat down, practically, and snore like that. With the CPAP now, he doesn't!
Vortex, yes I remember that. I am just not sure why they didn't have 4 people show that season. The crowd saw it anyway and might have made their judging a little more difficult.
Yeah, I think sleep apnea is probably right. And I didn't like how they were playing it for laughs. I was worrying about him.
I adore him, and I loved his outfits again. I thought that once again, he almost deliberately sabotaged himself out of the win by making the challenge piece too much art for the red carpet. Just like with the hair, he knew in all likelihood that it would cost him, but I think he felt like he wanted to go out on his own terms. Which is a confidence issue, I think, because his clothes are so completely fabulous and innovative.
Agree that Korto should have taken it instead of Daniel, but I knew Daniel was going to win from the beginning. I liked his red carpet dress, but hated the whole rest of the mini collection.
On PR:LA, I hope I'm interested. I have missed Tim & Heidi, but it's been a long time.
I liked the red dress okay, I agree it could have been better with one or the other, but I thought it was fine. Agree about Irina's dress.
I did watch the models show, too, and it was somewhere between crazy and totally uninteresting. I was surprised at how much nightgown boy threw his model under the bus. Plus I thought she was gorgeous, so it's too bad she won't be there still. That's why the model show is so weird, because it's all about the whim of the designer, not necessarily any merit of the model. Which I suppose is probably realistic, but still.
::covers eyes to avoid PR spoilers until I can watch it tonight::
Just wanted to post this Frontera Grill report--not my own, unfortunately, but from someone at the foodie website I stop by for recommendations. He was able to grab a seat at the bar and order the partial version of the TC:M winning entry (it was $90 for the full version). It has pictures of his meal; it looks terrific!
Reservations at Topolobampo are full up until the end of September, but if you're willing to wait for a seat (three hours yesterday!) or take a place at the bar at Frontera, you can order from Topo's menu there.
