Can't even shout, Can't even cry. The Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors. They need to take seven, and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, can't say a word. You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard.

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

Who'd a thunk it, all those years ago?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

See, I am pissed that all the acting was glossed over, but ... I'm happy in the end.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

CLEAN SWEEP!!!

Oh yeah.

I believe that we will take the non-sinking sheep of love and will go far away to the ocean...

and let me add a fuck yeah. I only stayed up this late to watch my hobbits win big. I'm so very, very happy for all of them!

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I loved that. I don't think I've ever watched through the whole Awards, but I had to see it win Best Picture.

Disaffected college student

Tied both Ben-Hur and Titanic for 11 wins . . . but those films had 12 and 14 nominations, respectively. RotK made the biggest Oscar sweep ever.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

See, I am pissed that all the acting was glossed over, but ... I'm happy in the end.

Eh. For Fellowship I felt like that, but not for RotK. (Billy Boyd's performance was the only one that I remember being really impressed by. I mean, everyone was good, don't get me wrong, but... I dunno. I have to confess that Sean Astin's big Hero Moment on the slopes of Mount Doom kind of makes me roll my eyes.)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay for the sweep! Yay for the cute hobbits all in a row! Yay for fantasy slipping past the blind eye of the academy!

(And also yay for Johnny Depp who has the smirkingest non-winning smirk ever)

I think Sean and Billy (oh, but mostly Billy) did great jobs. It's hard for me to say for the others, because I was used to the jobs they'd been doing. So if they'd rocked in FotR, they'd raised their own bar already.
