Shit's all sorts of different now.

WHERE DO WE GO...FROM HERE?

No kidding - I sang this last night after Dawn asked.

Disaffected college student

The curtains close
On a kiss . . . no, wait
On a smile--dammit, now the meter's shot to hell
Where do we go from here?

(Hmm. A freeform musical.)

All is well that ends in pizza.

Gee Brain, what are we gonna do tomorrow night?

Same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the WORLD!

I think they can do it. They have the slayer powers....

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

It occurred to me after signing off last night - has there ever been a season-ender on Buffy where "Where do we go from here?" ISN'T the operative question left open on some level, for some or all the characters?

The only one I could argue is Prophecy Girl ("I say we party"), but Buffy ended up asking herself the WDWGFH? question over the summer.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, that's what makes it great, isn't it?

I don't really know what to say - - I don't want to say nothing, but it's still difficult to believe that there won't be more Buffy.

I re-watched my "Chosen" tape last night (I've already crammed my Tuesdays full of stuff. . . well, if UPN had continued to run Buffy at the traditional hour it wouldn't have been a problem) and there are so many great little things -- the Faith/Wood scene (watching Angel made me wish hard for more Wes/Faith -- but Faith/Wood could have been great too); the Angel scenes, Buffy and Dawn after Dawn comes back, the little allusion to the end of WTTH/The Harvest. .. you know what I mean.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Graduation Day.

Which is a full stop on Buffy 1.0

If that's in refrence to my post, Jim, I'd disagree - college is in the offing as a big unknown (but not for Xander or Cordy) and Angel's left for L.A. Certainly no less of a WDWGFH than Restless.

And most season openers have Buffy in a state of some angst over her role as slayer. In part because Buffy's renewal status was often up in the air, Joss shot each season to end and be complete for the whole series. S1 or S2 or S3 or S5 or S7 all work as series finales. Buffy vs Dracula is the only opener that doesn't have a fair measure of angst, and that does include some dark foreshadowing.

Contrastingly, Angel tends to wind up the season arc early and use the end of the season to launch the premise for the next season. It's always reinventing itself.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Like Madonna. Hmm, suddenly the rotating cast of supporting hotties, abundant subtext, developing focus on parenthood, and horrible acting in the wake of a bleach job all seem to make more sense.
