If that's in refrence to my post, Jim, I'd disagree - college is in the offing as a big unknown (but not for Xander or Cordy) and Angel's left for L.A. Certainly no less of a WDWGFH than Restless.
It occurred to me after signing off last night - has there ever been a season-ender on Buffy where "Where do we go from here?"
And most season openers have Buffy in a state of some angst over her role as slayer. In part because Buffy's renewal status was often up in the air, Joss shot each season to end and be complete for the whole series. S1 or S2 or S3 or S5 or S7 all work as series finales. Buffy vs Dracula is the only opener that doesn't have a fair measure of angst, and that does include some dark foreshadowing.
Contrastingly, Angel tends to wind up the season arc early and use the end of the season to launch the premise for the next season. It's always reinventing itself.
Like Madonna. Hmm, suddenly the rotating cast of supporting hotties, abundant subtext, developing focus on parenthood, and horrible acting in the wake of a bleach job all seem to make more sense.
Dear god, Matt. You've really got something, there. Angel is really the story of Madonna's life. Suddenly, Cordy's costumes, and dating a fetus make sense.

That was a date? Rain of fire? Or are you just drawing from your own lovelife for comparison?
Wow. Just catching up in this thread two days after the fact, I got all friggin' choked up over an event that didn't even register at the time.
We'll always have Sunnydale... (okay, well, no, but I think y'all know what I'm trying to say...)
"It was the beginning of hundreds of beautiful friendships."(And several couples, lucky bastards.)

And addictions heretofore unimagined by those who would eventually succumb...
I forgot to add a dramatic hanky wave.
