"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I had three very young trick-or-treaters, which makes me feel grateful I went to the effort of buying Halloween candy and that I bought the good stuff (M&Ms and Reese's peanut butter cups) since I'll end up eating most of it.

Now I just have to finish packing for my vacation to the Ozarks and go pick up a new flood barrier to try and cut down on water seeping into my laundry room.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary got back home late Wednesday night. Friday he picked Mr. S up at the unit and brought him home. Mr. S went trick-or-treating as a Power Ranger.(all of his candy is hidden away because he gets more hyper than usual on sugar) We got a fairly large number of trick-or-treaters, despite the high winds. I had purchased a bag containing 110 pieces of candy, and had 4 pieces left at the end of the evening.

Not much else new. Gary has another business trip from Thursday to Saturday.

Going out to see Frankenstein tonight. I haven't heard much, but one of the friends I'm going with hears good things. Now to figure out what to wear so as not to freeze in the theater. Maybe I'll bring my blanket sweatshirt thing and throw it on after it goes dark...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It’s so dark right now.

Yeah, well it's the middle of the night, what do you expect.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have light coming in my windows before 7 am which I like. Still do not want to get out of bed

Yeah I really appreciate the earlier light to help me not want to just turn the alarm off and go back to sleep.

Our wings are not tired.

I have a latte and a savory scone and am idly contemplating if I want to replace my 23” screen with a giant 34” monitor like I was using at my sisters. It’s excessive but also kind of fun…

I left my large external monitor in NY so I wouldn't have to carry it back and forth. I was looking at the 32" curved monitors for maybe a replacement here. There are too many options!!

It's a non-trivial improvement over actual nothing, erika! Just hearing that a phone bank went well keeps my morale up, on top of any election results you may have affected

Being phone-phobic myself, I am so very grateful for those who do the hard work. It matters.

The garden apartment is already ready for guests, so I just have to put some sheets on the TV room couch for one of them.

Note to self: Really need to travel more and visit friends.

We had I dunno 100 kids? Anyway all our candy is done.

I do miss having lots and lots of kids for Halloween. I stayed in Otter Lake and bought goodies just in case. There are only maybe 6 little ones in town. It was rainy and maybe 40F, so I had one. My neighbor has a daughter with Down Syndrome, and I had let dad know I would be home, so she came as a princess and got a bunch. The rest came on our road trip. Her aunt lives across the street from me so we were probably her only two stops. Her excitement was a delight.

Morning all. Hope some of you got to enjoy that mythical extra hour of sleep, personally I went with the tried and true "woke up at 5:30am with a headache, couldn't get back to sleep if you put a gun to my head" method of celebrating the end of DST. Do not recommend.

This mythical hour was totally wasted on a miserable night in a hotel on the road. I want a do-over.

We departed at 7:30 AM Saturday, which was fine, with an expected arrival in Emporia VA at about 7 PM. Three accidents requiring detours near DC put us into the hotel after 9. On the top floor of the hotel, which was the pet floor, so we encountered way too many people and pets. Skinner feels he needs to socialize with everyone. My son was on the floor below and heard even more barking than we did. We all slept miserably and met up in the lobby for breakfast around 7 AM after the animals were fed and put in the car. The cat managed to get under the platform bed, which required disassembling the bed before capturing her and getting her in the carrier. All 3 of us planned to convince the others to forget staying in a hotel Sunday night and to drive through instead. We got home around midnight, and B got to Bonita Springs around 10. For future trips forget hotels. I am going to look for individual cabin type setups or AirBnB/Vrbo options where I don't have to worry about the pets so much. I am so tired. But B has his computer set up and is happy in his new digs. Yay.

It’s so dark right now.

It isn't as bad here as in NY, but I still hate it. FL voted to keep DST all year, but the feds didn't approve it.

Thrive to spite them

I was so glad for the extra time to sleep. I think I'm finally actually able to sleep some. I have been so sleep deprived and exhausted this past week. Saturday mom came to get her car back. m and I both miss her car. .it's a Rav4. I have a Honda Fit .

And I've had to deal with a few coworkers who have really negative things to say about SNAP receptients, and some of our coworkers rely on SNAP . One of them is just really negative about almost everything and she was so harsh and judgemental and she has kidney damage from drug addiction. She's sober now but I wanted to point out that people could make some really mean generalizations about her because of her past.

It's been really slow . Really really slow. And it makes me mad at this whole situation because I know we are slow because people don't have a way to buy groceries.

That is wild Askye, that folks with coworkers on SNAP would be like that. Damn.

Laura that is so strange to make the top floor of the hotel be the pet floor! I’ve seen the ground floor be it (because you have to take the dog out) but top floor seems an odd choice.

I know a lot of people don’t like daylight savings (or is it daylight savings time ending? I never know) but I do like the light in the morning because I feel like 4pm vs 5pm sunset means the evening feels nighttime either way, but 730am vs 830am sunrise is the difference beteeen “fine I’ll get up in time for work” vs “just no, I’m going back to sleep, I do not want to start work in the dark”
