I just got two dollar bills in the mail from Nielsen, asking me to fill out a survey about my tv watching, for $5 more. I am not sure what they’ll ask but I fear the actual answer of “in the past year I’ve watched one women’s soccer game and the Super Bowl, over the air, and on Netflix I’ve watched GBBO and a couple episodes of other shows here and there” would not be a good answer.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Well, exciting to be counted! That seems like a strange process for data collection, but okay I guess
We did Nielsen for a while, meara. They also want people who don't watch much. A broad sample size.
Our VP of Sales is retiring. It will be interesting to see how they shift around the org chart. No idea what the new CEO might do. At this point I'm just glad I have the option of making withdrawals from my 401k if my job goes away, I am way less anxious than I might be.
I had a Nielsen book during a pivotal period for "The Wire"--yet another place where i read articles and think "You're welcome." Proved I was disabled for another quarter. Shocking, right?
OK, I found a Disney+ subscription on my Verizon account and canceled that, and found a hulu account under a different email address and canceled that. Got rid of Paramount while I was on a roll. I actually watch things on HBO, so I’ll keep that, I think. Looks like I already canceled Peacock. Is that all? That might be all.

It's cleansing, really.
I canceled Hulu. I only had it because I got an incredible Black Friday 99c/month special from last year (which was due to expire soon anyway). I'm sure it was long planned, but I can't believe they have the nerve to raise prices at this point. I canceled Netflix when they announced their price increase after already screwing over everyone sharing a subscription (which I paid extra to do).
Given I don't really watch TV shows and 99% of the movies I watch are on Criterion or borrowed from the library, it makes no sense for me to subscribe to many things. I have HBO and Apple+ (for now) through the Math Greek but he canceled Apple+ when they announced price increases recently. We have it until November and I could barely find anything I wanted to watch before losing it.
I expect to keep Apple at least as long as there is MurderBot. And Severance. I don’t know if I can give up Netflix, my list of shows I want to watch is awfully long although I very rarely actually watch anything. I might be able to rationalize dropping it but it would take some work.

This was me. I had a lot of French and Italian shows in my queue but realized I never thought to watch them. So, I wrote them down and figured at some point they'll have a subscription deal that makes it worth signing up again to watch them.
I think if I could have a Roku queue that pulled from various streamers it would greatly increase my use of and interest in the various services. Assuming I could easily order and rearrange it (like you used to be able to do on Netflix--still annoyed they took that away).
I currently only pay for Netflix. I have a friend’s logon to hbo from when they visited and expect that to stop working at anytime. I have been watching movies occasionally on tubi and I find it less annoying than I thought. I can only watch via Kanopy on my laptop which limits me using it. My library branch is currently closed for renovations, but once it is back open I’ll be back using it for movies.
