OK, I found a Disney+ subscription on my Verizon account and canceled that, and found a hulu account under a different email address and canceled that. Got rid of Paramount while I was on a roll. I actually watch things on HBO, so I’ll keep that, I think. Looks like I already canceled Peacock. Is that all? That might be all.

It's cleansing, really.

I canceled Hulu. I only had it because I got an incredible Black Friday 99c/month special from last year (which was due to expire soon anyway). I'm sure it was long planned, but I can't believe they have the nerve to raise prices at this point. I canceled Netflix when they announced their price increase after already screwing over everyone sharing a subscription (which I paid extra to do).

Given I don't really watch TV shows and 99% of the movies I watch are on Criterion or borrowed from the library, it makes no sense for me to subscribe to many things. I have HBO and Apple+ (for now) through the Math Greek but he canceled Apple+ when they announced price increases recently. We have it until November and I could barely find anything I wanted to watch before losing it.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I expect to keep Apple at least as long as there is MurderBot. And Severance. I don’t know if I can give up Netflix, my list of shows I want to watch is awfully long although I very rarely actually watch anything. I might be able to rationalize dropping it but it would take some work.

This was me. I had a lot of French and Italian shows in my queue but realized I never thought to watch them. So, I wrote them down and figured at some point they'll have a subscription deal that makes it worth signing up again to watch them.

I think if I could have a Roku queue that pulled from various streamers it would greatly increase my use of and interest in the various services. Assuming I could easily order and rearrange it (like you used to be able to do on Netflix--still annoyed they took that away).

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I currently only pay for Netflix. I have a friend’s logon to hbo from when they visited and expect that to stop working at anytime. I have been watching movies occasionally on tubi and I find it less annoying than I thought. I can only watch via Kanopy on my laptop which limits me using it. My library branch is currently closed for renovations, but once it is back open I’ll be back using it for movies.

The status is NOT quo.

I’m so sorry Sheryl. I’m glad you got that moment with her, even though it’s not what you would have hoped for. Even if she’s not really aware, I do believe the love and care comes through.
Sending you so much love, Sheryl. My dad was no longer coherent or aware by the time he went back into the hospital January 2024, and I spent the next two+ weeks before I made the decision to put him into hospice wishing I could have one conversation with him or just know he heard me when I told him I loved him. But I have to believe he knew, at least on some level, that I was there, looking out for him and loving him. I hope you can feel that, too. It's cold comfort when you're losing a parent, but it means something that you were there. It means something that you said you loved her.

That's a bummer. I actually stream a decent amount though Hoopla and Kanopy. And, on the rare occasion when the SFPL doesn't have something Letterboxd says is there, I have an account at the LAPL and they usually have whatever it is.

He knew.

It's such a hard time but I can say, decades later, that I've never regretted once that I was there.

I still need to get to SFPL and get a card. I’m sure that will get me more stuff to borrow than Solano County (although my holds list is almost always maxed out, so it’s not like I’m starved for choice)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Netflix and Prime is mom, Disney and HBO are a couple of cousins who visited, Paramount I really use a great deal and will miss if they actually nuke Colbert.

We're going to get Apple for a month next time we have a promo code so we can watch Jason Momoa run around pre-contact Hawaii in traditional garb. Maybe we can time it out with the next Ted Lasso... it'll be the Jason Station.

I'm actually very good about cancelling. When I get a promo rate I put it in my calendar and end it before it goes up.

What I watch most, however, is YouTube. Deep Dives have included: Do Thylacines still exist? Assorted Hamiltons and Burrs, What did this historical figure actually look like?, some guy in semi-rural Morocco who rescues kittens and puppies...
