Glad the ticketing worked out Brenda!

I am in a gym in Thailand. Basically my friend I am traveling with has a close friend (who I was acquainted with but is not really a friend of mine) who lives here, so she’s been showing us around. We got in at midnight Wednesday, and yesterday we all went to a pool for a while (and had delicious cheap smoothies and lovely lunch, though possibly I will regret eating ice and lettuce and whatnot) then saw her workplace (she’s an artist) and then got massages. Today we went to breakfast (delicious fruit plate fo about $3, and some yummy avocado and scrambled egg on toast for $4) and then she picked us up and we came to the gym. While I’d been getting lots of steps in Korea, here I think we are more likely to be driven/in a taxi. So gym probably a good thing.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Happy birthday, Trudy!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Week 1 of treatment is officially done; 6 weeks to go! Fortunately, it's too early for side effects*, so Tim is still eating normally and trying to put on a few pounds that can be sacrificed later. His entire oncology team is really great -- extremely knowledgeable, helpful as shit, and super nice. I'm worried about when side effects get bad, because they'll affect his ability to eat (radiation to the mouth and neck is basically the process of giving him controlled burns to his mouth and throat 5 days a week for 7 weeks), but we know it's likely to happen AND that there are a lot of ways to make it more tolerable for him.

*(He feels a little fatigued, but I have to point out that he's still not getting 8 hours of sleep. He fights sleep like a little kid and always has. So when I get in bed at 11, he's up until 12, 12:30, sometimes 1 am. In fact, the other night I woke up at 1, saw he wasn't in bed, stomped out to the living room, and barked, "You have CANCER! Fucking GO TO BED!" [You can see I am a graceful and sweet caretaker.] But seriously, his sleep habits are terrible. I suspect as treatment progresses, the fatigue will win and force him to go to bed, so I'm not trying to fuss too much at this point.)

Since he's still eating normally, we're going to a German restaurant tomorrow for dinner with his brother and SiL. He wants to get in all of his favorite foods before he can't eat them for a while.

I've been listening to Justin Timberlake all morning, and it turns out that Justified is 23 years old WHAT THE FUCK.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I woke up at 1, saw he wasn't in bed, stomped out to the living room, and barked, "You have CANCER! Fucking GO TO BED!" [You can see I am a graceful and sweet caretaker.]

Tim is lucky to have you and I hope he knows it.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I’m quite certain he does.

Have a restful and carb-fueled weekend. Are edibles a thing in Ohio, and permissible with chemo? That helps me a lot when the brain doesn’t want to shut down even though it knows it damn well should.

We’re all vibing hard for you both!

First real day of Grand Jury, hearing all sorts of things I can’t talk about but are on occasion fascinating.

I will say that the first case was extremely Chicago PD-esque and I fully expect to see the scenario unfold some time next season. Maybe a fun cold-open before they get to the real case of the week. Who do I speak to about that?

Also it took place like three blocks from my best friend’s place so I could picture exactly how it all unfolded. (No one was hurt except for maybe a dog whose walk got interrupted, which I understand is quite a serious matter by dog code.)

They are legal in Ohio and they're probably permissible with chemo. Way back in the 90s (or 80s? or both?) Tim was a huge pothead, and ever since he quit in the mid-90s, he's always avoided it because he didn't want to fall back into bad patterns. So I think weedibles are something that would only be a last resort for him, though I also think he's sensible enough to recognize that this is a situation where breaking his no-weed rule could be beneficial. We'll see when and if that happens.

Avenge that dog, brenda! Right the wrongs committed upon that innocent dog!

Yes def consider (though talk to doc about it) weed!

The friend we are visiting in Thailand is among other things running an art gallery, so took us to a colleagues place yesterday and we bought a bunch of art (prints, which will be rolled up to go home). We had accidentally gotten about $600 out of the ATM (oops, meant to get $60) so we clearly have to spend it right? I’m not usually one to buy art (my friend def is) but I bought two really pretty pieces, total about $250.

Today though the friends have to move so we are going to help them some, and then go to the pool.

Also much good luck to Tim, and Brenda I bet it is fascinating!! Are you allowed to tell stories after, or is it always no?
