I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Last time I was dismissed during voir dire and that disappointing, but I hear enough to be kind of mad that both sides (of the civil case) were more concerned with ensuring “a level playing field” than getting to the truth. Which, I do understand why, but I have that ideal in my head anyway, I guess.

Today is Superior Court. I can’t remember how that’s different, but I am pretty sure it is

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think I first found the Buffistas back in Buffy Season 4/Angel Season 1, but don't quote me on that. The Bronze, MightyBigTV, and other fannish spaces from that time all kind of blend together for me. I was definitely around the following year for Dawn, Glory, and the lead-up to the wine cellar on Angel.

I have a memory of being familiar with ita from Salon's "Miss Cleo—Call Me Now!" thread and our mutual snarking on same before encountering the group as a whole.

I was brought to Salon (and this group among others) by Vortex and another IRL friend who were fans. End of 1999/beginning of 2000, when I too was temping.

The construction has restarted behind my house (they tore down the house that was there a few weeks ago, then did nothing, but now are digging out a new foundation for townhouses that will go there) and my dog is barking like mad. Guess I better go draw the blinds. But I feel a little bad, because I assume this is entertaining for him. But don’t want so much barking.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I was reading Salon and spending too much time on the boards...

Our wings are not tired.

I found Buffistas shortly after 9/11 while searching for a distraction from the world gone mad. This is still my shelter from a world gone mad!

I've only sat on a jury once, and I loved every moment. I could do it every day, but not violent crimes. I would suck at that. Just civil debauchery.

It’s been just waiting around so far. I am more frustrated than I would have guessed that wifi is so slow that I can’t tell if I’ve posted my Wordle in 2 to FB or not…

I have my current e-book downloaded, so it’s not like I don’t have anything else to occupy me

It was 2004-5 when I was temping at the S&WB that I was peak online, including being constantly here. Although I always have a tab open on my phone these days, so I am kind of constantly here now, too. But not necessarily in an active way.

And the matter has been vacated so I’m done

Always Anti-fascist!

Meeting Buffistas is yet another of the hundreds of times I wish I had a better story or something. Like Trudy, I just hung out on TT a lot, even before I ever watched Buffy. I talked to quite a few people here in my internet-newbie pre-Buffista headspace and probably you don't remember it and that is pretty okay with me because I got to do the impossible and make a second first impression.(That version of me is probably archived in the Wayback Machine still waiting for an engraved invitation to take part in online conversation--yes, there were a lot of "Have a nice summer!" in my yearbook-- now, I wonder if I shouldn't have leaned into it and got the assassin training, but I digress.) "When I first met you, you were like "oh, dear, I burned the muffins...now you go into a bar and sailors come out"--only online, so far, we'll see how Adaptive Menopausal Zest shakes out.
