I stumbled onto TT sometime in 2000 - I was just out of college and working as a temp, mostly on receptionist gigs that left me with a LOT of time to waste online in-between answering phones.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I came here after the board address was on the last aired episode of Firefly which I think was around the LA F2F. I certainly saw pics from that during my fairly long lurk before posting. Took me a looong time to work up the nerve to post in Natter! Though I was in the show threads and even Bitches before that.
Spent the last two days lying down in a darkened room with a headache (not, I think, a migraine but persistent and wobbly-making) and today I am reporting for jury duty. Called in Friday to be told to call in again on Monday to be told to come to the courthouse, we’ll see what happens next.
Administer justice!
I hope the headache is gone, -t!
Was talking with Mac last night about jury duty. He thinks he would get too mad if he thought justice was not being served.
He’s been watching stories about false accusations and people serving time that are later revealed to be innocent and he is big mad.
We talked for a while about it last night and I told him about Emmett Till and the Innocence Project and how serving on a jury might be the voice that stops injustice from happening. And how local elections are the ones that affect who the DA is and oversight on police and prosecutors.
I love his justice minded heart. Would love if he would channel that into something.

I don't remember that. Somewhere in the final credits, I suppose? Tell me more.
jury duty...too mad....
I found jury duty to be immensely frustrating. Part of that was the difference between what I expected the jury was to decide and what the judge's instructions to the jury actually wanted the jury to decide.
I think it was an aftercard? It was something like, go here to find out what you can do to help Firefly be uncancelled, which was not at all correct, but got me here.
Last time I was dismissed during voir dire and that disappointing, but I hear enough to be kind of mad that both sides (of the civil case) were more concerned with ensuring “a level playing field” than getting to the truth. Which, I do understand why, but I have that ideal in my head anyway, I guess.
Today is Superior Court. I can’t remember how that’s different, but I am pretty sure it is
I think I first found the Buffistas back in Buffy Season 4/Angel Season 1, but don't quote me on that. The Bronze, MightyBigTV, and other fannish spaces from that time all kind of blend together for me. I was definitely around the following year for Dawn, Glory, and the lead-up to the wine cellar on Angel.
I have a memory of being familiar with ita from Salon's "Miss Cleo—Call Me Now!" thread and our mutual snarking on same before encountering the group as a whole.
