I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I got the Pfizer jab a week and change ago along with the flu jab. There was a bit of arm soreness, abut otherwise things seem fine.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

These are friggin' magical for fruit flies. [link]

Thanks, Trudy! I'll try it.

The status is NOT quo.

The Covid-19 vaccination I got Friday has been kicking my ass all weekend. I overslept yesterday and missed taking my mom on our usual Saturday morning walk in the park. (We tried after lunch, but the area we normally walk in was closed off for a bike race.) Then last night/today I slept 10 hours, and still have the sore arm at the injection site. I suppose I should be thankful for the clear indication that it's working.

YES. I got both flu and Pfizer on Saturday and CANNOT stay awake, even two days later. I almost never react to vaccines, so it was surprising. I came home from work today and slept 2.5 hours and could honestly fall asleep again right now.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I got both covid & flu this afternoon. There was a little girl, maybe 6 or 7, who was up for her shots, and she was NOT HAVING IT. Wailing like she was going to die, there in the lobby at Kaiser.

Eventually her mother basically strongarmed her into the chair and they got them done -- I dunno about her, but I barely felt the shots!

When I left she was headed right for the gumball machine there in the lobby. Smart placement, Kaiser!

In other news I ended up using AI to write my team's assessments today. We have to make sure they align with "mission needs" and "administration priorities", and I just didn't know that I could do that on my own.

... I feel dirty.

This too shall pass.

AI use for assessments seems legit to me.

It was 29F when I got up this morning. Frost on the pumpkins, as they say. I don't think it is supposed to freeze the rest of the week, but DH is super stressed about finishing up stuff and getting back to Florida.

I have additional compassion for those of you who get migraines. I smacked my head about a week ago on a dormer in my bedroom and managed to get a concussion. The headaches over the last couple of days are quite annoying. Cold packs help; drugs do not. I've never really had an issue with headaches before.

In other news, my eldest son finally asked me to send him the info he needs to get his driver's license in Florida, so he can vote. Of course the cut off for registration was yesterday, BUT, he was registered here previously so he might be able to update his info to his new address when he gets his license. Of course, I have been reminding him to do this for over a year.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I took this morning off to get my boobs squished and run errands so I am just getting to work now. Moved my chair from my old desk to my new and I guess I'm all here, just gotta figure out how to arrange my comfort desktop clutter and get used to what overhearing the other departments I'm now near will be like.

Very little inclination to, y'know, work at this point.

The air conditioning is pretty nice over here, so I've got that going for me

Good for you, -t -- I am shamefully overdue by about 6 months.

Laura -- that's no good! I'm sorry you smacked your head. I wonder sometimes about whether I've had concussions in the past that I've just never had checked out -- two incidents in particular. Well, I guess... I'm here and more or less functional, so I'll take the win, even if I did have them.

And good luck to Elder Son. Hope it's just an update.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

ahahahahahah job chaos continues. It's "write your annual review" time, and my boss told me I should make sure I include as many examples of things I did tied to the level expectations for my role. Then she alluded to a conversation we'd had back last year during the reorg about if demotions were a thing our company did, and that maybe we'll discuss that during the review, she's still gathering information.

... gosh, I wonder what all of that could mean?

Unless the (almost certainly offered) demotion wildly cuts my salary, I'll take it. Anything to stave off job hunting; remote positions are rare nowadays, as are technical writing positions. And, to be realistic, I'm a woman over 50, which would make job hunting even more difficult.

I'm not in the greatest of moods.
