Tim says the surgeon said everything went well! I am loopy on pain meds and waiting while Tim goes to CVS for even more pain meds.

Yeah, I think that's what happened, --t, not that I fully understood it, exactly--the closest I feel to getting locked out of tradition like that might be either Super Bowl Sunday and not having a team or taking Independence Day exceptionally literally.
