Oh, my goodness, -t! I hope your mom is continuing to do well, rest, and recover.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

They accepted the counter-offer and signed.

So, we got the place.

Now I've got to send money into the Escrow account tomorrow.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Congrats!

I have seen the hole in the drywall, yikes. I was imagining more of a dent. It’s pretty amazing she’s in as good shape she is after that

This has been a very long day. I’m staying in my parents’ guest room, have directions from mom what clothes to bring her tomorrow (they cut everything off her except her bra). I have all my work stuff with me because I was working at the library when my dad called, but what I don’t have is clean clothes for me. Jeans and a t-shirt can do two days in a row…

Our wings are not tired.

I hope your mom isn't too sore this morning, -t. Sending recovery ~ma for the weeks to come.

So, we got the place.

That is awesome news! Very exciting, and scary as well. It looks like a terrific find.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Congrats Hec and Emmet!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

So, we got the place.

Wow! Congratulations!

I have seen the hole in the drywall, yikes.

Looking for a silver lining here, but a hole rather than a dent leads me to think she hit between the studs. A direct hit on a stud would have done less damage to the drywall, and more damage to her.

Is her sense of humor such that she would enjoy some sort of marker on the repair? An outline? A silhouette? A plaque?

Definitely between studs, which we are all grateful for!

If her painkillers are good enough, this could be effective.

Thrive to spite them

I am so glad your mom didn't hit the studs or injure her back.

Yay for the house !!!

And I realized I am angry at mom. I understand that she wants to live in a house and she doesnt want to move and she hates getting old and doesn't want to admit her limitations. She says it is just for a year but...what if the winter is really bad? Or she gets hurt?

It's frustrating

That which does not kill you should RUN

-t, I'm glad your mom's condition/prognosis is so good! That's a relief.

Also big homeowner YAY for Hec and Emmett! Very exciting!

askye, wrangling aging parents and trying to respect their autonomy while wanting them to be in the safest living situation is SUPER frustrating, and I definitely sympathize.

I'm getting all my ducks in a row for surgery on Monday. Since they go in through the front of the neck, it's super common to have a very sore throat for a while afterwards, so I have a grocery list of soft foods. And thanks to our country's total breakdown of food safety standards, that list of soft foods includes "popsicles (without glass)."

I saw my OB/GYN yesterday about menopause madness, and she was great. I'm going to start HRT about 2 weeks after surgery -- estradiol patch and progesterone pill since I still have a uterus. And they drew blood to check my testosterone level, so that might get added as well. I am so goddamn excited to get these hot flashes under control. (Also heart health, bone strength, improvement in mood, etc. But mostly these fucking hot flashes.)
