Taking care of elderly parents is a lot, but it's easier if they let you. I'm forever grateful to my stepdad for the incredibly loving care he provided for my mom. Brendon's mother is very difficult to take care of, as a huge understatement. I don't think any of us will be able to take care of her, only because she makes it impossible. Unfortunately, that will mean she ends up in some variety of care facility at some point.
Does your mother perhaps suffer from vertigo, askye? My sister can't bend over due to vertigo issues she has had for years. Her balance is awful. She does a bunch of PT exercises and works on it, but it remains a big challenge.
Today is flea's birthday! I hope you are having a delightful holiday weekend and that the year to come is all you hope for and more.
Happy birthday, flea!
So sorry to hear that Bridget has passed. She was one of the good 'uns.
Happy Birthday, flea!
I am barely going to make it to my surgery in one intact piece. My legs are a little cold/numb, which tracks with the nerve interruption going on. And I’m dizzy, which isn’t great but also tracks with the spinal madness going on.
I did put a call in to my surgeon to see if those symptoms necessitate steroids for the next week before surgery.
The nervous system is wild.
but also tracks with the spinal madness going on.
Spinal Madness!
Puts me to mind of Ren & Stimpy: [link]
I was way too young and not prepared with both of my parents. I have a lot of grief and guilt tied up in that.

That's a lot, askye. Good luck with all of it.
Happy belated, flea!

Oh my Glob, I'm in a swirly whirly flurry of texts and emails now between various realtors and finance people as we get prepared to make a bid on this house tomorrow.
I forgot about now nerve jangly this process can be.
I've been trying to watch the 5 minute highlights from the A's win last night and got interrupted by incoming texts and emails five times.
Happy Birthday Flea!!!
Teppy I'm hoping the universe will gently wrap you in some kind of bubble wrap until the surgery.
Laura- Mom's doctors think it's a pinched nerve and she has an MRI soon. later this week? I can't remember but that is the theory that a nerve is pinched and when she moves it causes weakness.
We went to see the Independent Senior Living Place- Mom liked it!!! If she didn't have this back stuff she was trying to figure out I think she would have been talking more about moving. This is the only place we have looked at BUT it's in a good location, they currently have 2 bedroom apartments available. They allow pets-- we got to pet the friendliest , cutest Chihuahua mix--that dog trotted right up to us and demanded pettings and then didn't want to leave. She was on a leash but it was kind of long lead and the owner was following along after the dog but that you can tell that dog loved attention and gets it regularly. It just had a really nice vibe to it.
