Teppy I would have the worst time falling asleep like that, good luck! As someone else said hope the opiates work for that!!
Note to friends: strongly recommend putting something identifying on your keys! Or an AirTag or whatever. Because there’s now been two times where keys were left behind at an event and we didn’t know whose they were…and if they didn’t have a barcoded id tag on them (one for the library and one for parks and rec services) it would’ve been “gosh who knows if they’ll ever get back to the person”! I rarely lose my keys (they have a place they live and I only need them for the car not the house) but this got me to air tag them. Even if it doesn’t say “call Jane at 555-1212” it’s good to have something!

My mother has similar turtleneck anxiety, Tep. Not sure if I do-- I don't think I've had one since college.(At university, I got to say something that made Gloria Steinem chuckle--I remember that she autographed my program, but right after that, I started moving around a lot and I'm not sure that I have it anymore. That's why movies where people find Great-Grandma's letters in pristine condition and order...kind of unintentionally make me laugh. But the memory is a nice counterbalance to almost hitting Cornel West with my chair in the bookstore that same day.) Atropa, that's so weird-frightening--hope you will feel better soon. DH is the worst when it comes to losing just about everything so he has tiles on his stuff now. Alas, they don't fit on his glasses, but helpful for his keys, wallet, and laptops. Seriously, he has lost soooo many things.

Hm, maybe I should invest in some airtags. Although something that would beep and light up to tell me where my glasses are when I can't see them because I don't have my glasses on would be very useful.

GS had a very appreciative laugh, especially given the stereotype of the feminist with no sense of humor.(I think there are some, but she wasn't.) Real amusement is just so different from that thing we do to smooth things over and all that.(Which has its place still, unfortunately.)

I hope you can get used to the neck brace for as long as you need it, Steph. I’m ok with neck things, but stuff on my wrists bothers me to no end.
Atropa, I hope that was a one-off event for you—it sounds scary and unpleasant.
Work was definitely work-like today. As an editor, I’m downstream of a lot of other people’s work, and everyone wants to get stuff off their desks (and onto mine) before the long weekend. Also, I’m the newbie, so the other two members of my team are off tomorrow. I’m gonna earn that three day weekend and then some.
On the other hand, we had a couple of gorgeous thunderstorms roll through today. Lots of wind, rain, and lightning, but I never really lost power, which is the best combo.
