Totes messy, but I had a saucer to catch the juice from the slices and a handy napkin for what got on me, so not lastingly.

Hummingbird activity at my feeder was late to start this season, and has been much less frequent than usual. It is only now starting to pick up.
Just now, for the first time in 19 years at this location, I witnessed a brief and uneasy détente -- two hummingbirds feeding at the same time. I hope it starts happening more often now.
I am delighted.
I saw a kind of chonky hummingbird in our backyard the other day!
I can't have any bird feeders, hummingbird or other, because they attract bears, which is an issue around here. Also, a torment for my cat and/or the birds.
DH has been super productive here, tearing out the old shed, and now has plans for a new one, as well as a large backyard desk. Need to move the fire pit over some. Also, plans to add a hot tub on the deck. My hope is that he is here enough to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Chonky hummingbird! I cannot imagine, but yay!
Also yay on the hummingbird detente!
Timelies all!
I went to my 5 year high school reunion because it was Thanksgiving weekend and I was still spending the holiday with my folks. Haven't been to any since. Not like I had a lot of friends to keep in touch with anyhow.
There was some talk of multiple years getting together for my approximate 10-year reunion, I think, but I never really planned to go. Hadn't heard about any others until this year, which doesn't mean they didn't happen without me. I have no other reason to go to that area so I haven't gone looking for them. AFAICT, though, we alumni are just not very active.
I was thinking I would go find one of the no fee co-op ATMs that are supposed to be nearby and maybe hit a food truck or something for lunch but I looked on Door Dash to get restaurant ideas and now I have one of those infamous $20 burritos on the way. It's shrimp and al pastor in a spinach tortilla.
I hope the burrito exceeds expectations. Sounds tasty to me.
The local annual Library Bash was Sunday. I did not win any of the raffle items. We had dinner with family last night. My very tasty cornbread was a hit. Today I am scanning and filing documents. My days are ordinary, which is fine. No drama, just a calm day-to-day.
Wow, hope it's really great. We bought $11 cheesesteaks recently--fine sandwich, but not a great value and kind of embarrassing cause it was Jack In The Box. Not sure anyone will believe me when I say "That sounds fun and different!" about food again, although it wasn't, you know, a complete disaster. Stupid meeting's over. I know y'all were holding your breath--please stop, oxygen loss is not worth the hype-- but I still remain among the impaired. I think the social worker...kind of forgot, or scheduled another SM on top of us or something because it was even more "Screech has two dates for homecoming," than they usually are. She can stand on her feet, but she can't think on them. Which is so encouraging with all the struggles coming at us in the fall.(And again, I must add, whether we #defund or not, I'm not sure the answer is there. Not with the ones I meet, anyway.)
Burrito was excellent and will be at least two meals. Well worth it.
And the people organizing our reunion just published that it'll be $200 for tailgating at the homecoming football game and then a gala on Saturday including a souvenir t-shirt and what looks like a coffee cup. Which seems pretty reasonable and might be fun except I would also have to get there and find a hotel and take time off from work and none of that sounds fun. Well, taking time off from work actually always sounds like a good idea and I'll have vacation time accrued by then (end of October ish). Hm.
