I mean there is still a lot of minor stuff and cosmetic stuff, but when I was growing up we had to dump the dishwater in the back yard because we had no sink drain, go to the cellar to turn the shower on, and had no hot water in the bathroom sink. So frankly it is in much better shape than in the 80s. My uncle and aunt are so focused on replacing the flooring and I am like- there is a floor, I can rip the carpets up and just live with whatever is underneath until other messy work is done??? I think it really bothered them that the rugs are like, from the 70s in some cases, but there is an order of operations.
It also only takes me 25 minutes in summer to drive to work. I tested with a rental.

This is shaping up nicely.
but there is an order of operations.
You're doing a great job, getting the necessary information, making thoughtful, strategic decisions.
Good morning, Buffistae. Happy Saturday!
It's foggy and 58 in San Francisco but should be sunny by 10am.
I'm going to take an early walk through the Panhandle and corral some coffee.
Nothing but catching up on chores scheduled for today.
We have a sweet 16 birthday party for a cousin today. It is a couple hour drive each way, but she is a wonderful kiddo and I look forward to celebrating her day. Eldest of 5 and a huge help to her parents.
Other than that we are trying to figure out our traveling to NY plan. His aunt would like help driving to Alabama where she will stay much of the summer, which we will do, and then visiting awesome cousins in Ohio. With both animals it takes a bit of effort. I only need to pack what I need for the road as I have camp stocked at this point.
Brendon is trying to step back from coaching and devote some more time to work and home projects. This would be a good thing.
Oh, very exciting: as of this morning, I am 40 pounds down from March of 2025! I had ice cream before dinner last night, so apparently that is the secret. (Like and subscribe below for more diet tips.)
I am a bad dog mom who forgot Rorys birthday yesterday until I was in bed and saw one of his siblings’ moms post! Oops. Happy 6th birthday to my Covid puppy.
That's great, Teppy. Putting ice cream on my shopping list right now.
Happy birthday to Rory. He'll forgive you.
I've got a phonebank and a writing-craft lecture from the woman who taught my haunted-house class in the fall. Can't decide if this is all good news or "demented and sad, but social"(A little of both, perhaps)
Wouldn't mind doing things that are a little less expected, but it's boiling now. Not a great time for adventures here.
Well done, Tep! I might need to alter my diet plans from fancy baked goods to fancy ice cream.
Happy birthday, Rory!
Wunderground misled me; it's still overcast.
And while I did get in my early walk, I have yet to rouse Matilda or begin the chore list.
Today's light reading: "the hard problem of consciousness" as it relates to theoretical physics. This is an actual field but it gets overlaid with lots of woo woo, so it's difficult to find lay person accounts which are not full of wishcasting and "the universe is made of mind."
Anyway, somewhere at the intersection of neuroscience and quantum physics there are unmooring implications that we've got reality all wrong.
Which...
[waves hand at all this]
makes sense.
