Oh, very exciting: as of this morning, I am 40 pounds down from March of 2025! I had ice cream before dinner last night, so apparently that is the secret. (Like and subscribe below for more diet tips.)
I am a bad dog mom who forgot Rorys birthday yesterday until I was in bed and saw one of his siblings’ moms post! Oops. Happy 6th birthday to my Covid puppy.
That's great, Teppy. Putting ice cream on my shopping list right now.
Happy birthday to Rory. He'll forgive you.
I've got a phonebank and a writing-craft lecture from the woman who taught my haunted-house class in the fall. Can't decide if this is all good news or "demented and sad, but social"(A little of both, perhaps) Wouldn't mind doing things that are a little less expected, but it's boiling now. Not a great time for adventures here.
Well done, Tep! I might need to alter my diet plans from fancy baked goods to fancy ice cream.
Happy birthday, Rory!
Wunderground misled me; it's still overcast.
And while I did get in my early walk, I have yet to rouse Matilda or begin the chore list.
Today's light reading: "the hard problem of consciousness" as it relates to theoretical physics. This is an actual field but it gets overlaid with lots of woo woo, so it's difficult to find lay person accounts which are not full of wishcasting and "the universe is made of mind."
Anyway, somewhere at the intersection of neuroscience and quantum physics there are unmooring implications that we've got reality all wrong.
Which... [waves hand at all this] makes sense.
the hard problem of consciousness
Reminds me of an lesson from my introduction to first aid in Boy Scouts. The instructor asked the class, "How can you tell if the victim is conscious or unconscious?" He got lots of puzzled looks from the group of twelve-year-olds. Why was he asking us questions?
He let us stew for a bit, then gave us an answer: "Just ask him."

Well, there's conscious and then there's concussed. So, "Just ask them their name and if they know what day of the week it is."
Wunderground misled me; it's still overcast.
I sincerely hope the DC forecast is correct for tomorrow. It has nice big thunderstorms all through the events at the White House. Strike the lot with lightning, please.

Fortunately Idiocracy prepared me for a UFC cage fight on the White House lawn with the actual White House in ruins.
