Timelies all!
So, things got worse. Wed. evening I got a text from the nanny saying she was bringing Mr. S home right now.(Gary at that point hadn't gotten on the plane to get home yet.) There was some sort of incident, which I don't know exactly what happened. She tells one story, and Mr. S tells another. She ended up waiting until Gary was driving home from the airport to bring Mr. S home.
Mr. S is back at school, but refuses to go with the nanny at the end of the school day. (Gary had to leave work early yesterday and today to get him) Gary decided, after texting back and forth with the nanny, to end our contract with her. He is now looking for other options. This obviously makes life more complicated.
In between all the chaos I was able to go to Malice Domestic this past weekend, where I bought many books.
Aw, man, Sheryl.(I wish I had something useful to offer as well, but...)
It has to be incredibly stressful, Sheryl. I hope a solution is found quickly.
NYC folks, there's a restaurant in Tribeca that does a Cincinnati night on the last Monday of the month, so if you feel like your life is lacking weird chili and amazing ice cream, here's where to go:
I will pay that much for a 3-way!
Oh! I got to try the Skyline Graeter's! Vanilla ice cream with oyster crackers and the spices. Maybe a teeny tiny bit of chili? (not that the chili has a whole lot of chili). Not meaty of course. I'm not going to crave it fortnightly, but it was really nice! I'd eat it again, kept the container... good beat, you can dance to it.
I've always thought a Chicago Bar in this city would be a license to print money. Play the games, sell the foods... the place would be packed.

I never did get around to trying it, but that seemed to be the general consensus about it. It really is two great tastes that taste great together!
Seconded. Shall we put it to a vote?
Today should be Friday.
Hmmm, that would mess up my schedule.
Gray morning in SF but I don't begrudge it. Also it'll probably burn off.
JZ's cousin Nicole is visiting this week and I'll be taking her to Chinatown at her request.
Apparently she hasn't been back since she was 12 and it is magical in her memory.
Then I'm getting a facial and I'm meeting up with a friend whose marriage has come to a surprise (for her) end. She's very bereft, and I remember those feelings well.
Also being a widower, I am more recently acquainted with the sudden advent of wildly change life circumstances.
So I will be there to buy her drinks and assure her that there is a life to be led on the other side of the dark tunnel she has entered.
Tomorrow is May! One third of this year is over. One quarter of this century is over. 2030 is a totally made up science fiction year but it's going to happen pretty soon.
More confusingly autonomous humanoid robots are being sold by multiple companies and they're going to be everywhere. They are already working in Amazon warehouses and Tesla assembly lines and in Korean malls. Nobody seems to be talking about this but it's happening. It happened before flying cars.
Lunch today is roast duck breast and ramps. I keep thinking I should go back and have one wrapped to take home to mom... um...
Its not traumatic or even that upsetting to have to remind myself over and over again that she's dead but, seriously? Multiple times in the course of a meal?
Oh! I saw King Charles yesterday.
Possibly Camilla.
I saw a left hand waving out the window of the motorcade that was effing my commute.
